SC was a great victory for the non-Romney faction but FL is "winner take all" and Romney winning there will return the momentum.
Upcoming in Feb, before March's Super Tuesday, is Michigan where Mitt was born & his father was governor and Nevada with its large Mormon population. Maine and Colorado hold caucuses. Missouri votes but it has no baring on their delegates which is decided at a March caucus.
Looking beyond Florida, except for Arizona at the tail end, February is replete with Romney friendly territory on the primary map.
If he really cares about his issues and stopping Romney, Santorum must give his campaign an honest reconsideration before FL votes.
The best chance we have now is Newt following up SC with a FL win.
No, Newt is not a Northeast RINO, and that’s who thinks they run the GOP.
The so called Rockefeller Republicans. They are the RINO equivalent of Limosine Liberals. They have absolutely no interest in Comservatism. My only fear is they may decide they’d prefer four more years of FUBO than have their power taken from them. The naked interference in the nomination process thus far shows you what they are all about. They think it’s “their party,” and conservatives to them just as the blacks are to the RATs.

Newt is part of the conservative establishment - aka Reagan conservatives

Exactly. And I think he’s in a much better position to let people see who he really is as a presidential candidate than as speaker of the House, where he was largely at the media’s mercy, especially the media of the 1990s.
I agree..Santorum was my second choice after Bachmann left. Rick needs to take one for the team before Florida...otherwise he is just in it for for himself and not the "principles".
Nice analysis. But, until he release his tax return, he’s going no where. And when he does, I suspect that it might put a whole new perspective on Bain.

The establishment would prefer to lose the election to maintain the status quo and avoid letting citizens take charge of the GOP. The last thing they want is to lose their “influence” and importance to the MSM.
I remember back when Newt was Speaker, and the token 'evil conservative' whipping boy of every news organization. We all wanted Newt to run for President, then, as the conservative alternative to the 'establishment' squishes.
He may have made a few odd statements since, but has he changed all that much? Specifically, has he really become indistinguishable from Romney? I just don't see it.
So, let's see. Santorum won IA (finishing way ahead of Newt there), and then also beat Newt in NH. Right after NH, were you asking Newt to "drop out" and "take one for the team"? And since he didn't, I guess we can just assume he's in it for himself and not the "principles"? ;)
Fat head Karl was more than slightly upset before the results came in, he knew Newt had it won, and he was dishing dirt.

I tend toward Lt. Col./representative West being a good fit for Newt and the USA. While I’m commenting I want to say that our Nation and It’s exceptionalism is the USA as apart from what some think it should be tied to all the western hemisphere Americas as part of a new world order.
Especially because there have been shenanigans to get Dems in each state overseeing the elections (can’t remember the offiical titles of such persons). They need to steal a lot of votes to win, and they’re going to try such theft even more so this election.
Santorum's better days were in Iowa and it was stolen from him. Santorum's principles are impeccable..but he won't win now. If Santorum causes Newt to lose Florida..he is in it for himself and not the principle...yes, that is my assessment. Santorum may have a better shot in 2016.
