The Republican Establishment's Strategic Blunder
The American Thinker ^ | January 30, 2012 | Steve McCann

Posted on 01/30/2012 12:08:01 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

The RepublicanParty has a tenuous hold on the conservative movement in America. At present the only home for the 40 per cent of the electorate that identify themselves as conservative is the Republican Party, but it appears that those who are nominally identified as the "Republican Establishment" are doing all they can to alienate the vast majority of the current base of the Party.

There is no office on ConnecticutAvenue in Washington with a sign reading "The RepublicanEstablishment" or the "The Democratic Establishment"; rather it is an amalgam of like-minded groups with one common interest: control of the government purse-strings.

The Republican Establishment is made up of the following: 1) many current and nearly all retired Republican national office holders whose livelihood and narcissistic demands depends upon fealty to Party and access to government largesse; 2) the majority of the conservative media, including pundits, editors, writers and television news personalities based in Washington and New York whose proximity to power and access is vital to their continued standard of living; 3) numerous think-tanks and members thereof who are waiting to latch on to the next Republican administration for employment and ego-gratification; and 4) the reliable deep pocket political contributors and political consultants whose future is irrevocably tied to the political machinery of the Party.

The overriding interest of this cabal has been and continues to be: the accumulation of power through the control of the income, borrowing and spending by the Federal Government. Thus, with the exception of the presidency of Ronald Reagan and the Republican controlled House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999, the Republican members of the Ruling Class have been content since 1952 to merely slow down the big-government policies of the Democrats while publicly decrying their tax and spend policies.

This insider apparatus has been the....

The common characteristics among the “establishment” Republicans are as follows:

1-They all want to see Barack Obama defeated.

2-They all have bought into the myth that the ideal candidate will have to tack to the middle to garner independent votes in the general election.

3-None of them have worked in the private sector and thus they cannot grasp the depth of emotion among private sector players, who feel folded, spindled, mutilated, maligned and persecuted.

4-Since most of them are pundits, they ascribe far too much power to the media’s ability to persuade, and consistently underestimate the power of the tea parties and the new media, which arose due to the conditions outlined in #3.

Cases in point: 2010 election smack-down of Democrats, 2012 South Carolina primary, Florida 2012?

The republican Establishment has Figured Out tht the 40% conservative Base is SMALLER than the 49% Deadbeats who Pay NOtaxes and their Votes count just as Much as the Conservatives.
What that Means FOLKS is that we have reached that Point that one of the Founders warned about. When the Populace figures out it can Vote Largesse from one group to give to the Other,Our Democratic Republic Is Finished. What we are seeing is that the Republicans have Surrendered and they have Visions of Out Democrating the Democrats. So Conservatives we have a Choice,Capitulate and support this Farce or Start a third party,Either way we Lose, the Numbers are just not there

The mask is off, the curtain drawn back...and the people...are FUMING. This crap ends now, this year...or go down fighting.

God help the RNC caller or mailer that contacts me next...however, I think after the last blast, the calls have tapered off.

If we didn’t have a closed primary here in Pa., I’d change my registration to independent NOW instead of after the primary. Sick up to here with these people.

I have yet to be convinced that the “Establishment” Republicans want to see obama defeated. From what I can see and hear, the “Establishment” Republicans in both Houses of Congress do not even believe that we, as a Nation, are in a serious crisis and our future depends on wich way the 2012 election goes.

The Establishment don’t want anyone ‘rocking the boat’. As long as power is maintained, and champagne and cash continue to flow; they couldn’t care less who is in the White House. They sure as hell don’t give a damn about the people...

I'd eat my own children before voting for the pandering fraud from Mass. No way I (or anyone in my household) vote for that . Better to write in Santa Claus and spend my energy focused on taking back our party ... or we shoot the elephant and move on. Long live the rebellion!!

PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT’S ARROGANCE.
———————————————————————————————As usual for over the past 10 years I get up and turn FOX Friends.
It was hit piece after hit piece and they had this woman on named Dee Dee who was with Bush.

OMG She laid into Newt , called him disco Newt like a child, said he was the establishment and when asked why does he lead nationally etc she replied Newt can’;t beat obama, he has no chance Romney is a much better candidate, he was a business man etc.

I just decided I had it now.
The establishment thinks we’re too stupid and dumb to pick OUR CANDIDATE and they feel that they have to attack anyone who gets in the way of their guy.

The arrogance of these people has lost me now.
FOX can forget about me watching and for the first time I am watching CNN right now and will do.

WHO THE HELL DOES THE ESTABLISHMENT THINK THEY ARE THAT THEY DECIDE WHO ARE NOMINEE IS AND WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY WARE THAT THEY DECIDE WHO CAN BEAT OBAMA?

The arrogance is so high that they think that they can shut us up and put someone like Sarah on the ticket and we’ll shut up and just vote, WELL NO CHANCE

and obviously they do not read this site and others like this at all and have no clue how the average conservative thinks and wants.

They can stick their national review etc up where the sun don’t shine

FOX can forget about me watching

Fox became unwatchable long ago.

I'm a regular listener of the NoAgenda podcast with John Dvorak and Adam Curry. Both Dvorak and Curry believe that Fox News is controlled by the democrats. I think they might be right.

left to us to decide.

Was your watching FOX this morning, I went mad at the TV and turned friends off for the first time in over 10 years.

They had a Bush crony on named Dee Dee who told FOX this morning that Newt cannot beat obama, he has no chance they should call him disco Newt for his long time in DC and ROmney is much better because he was a business man

In other words the elitists like her from DC and the north east decide who our candidate is and we should vote for what they say and if we do get a SC vote then the establishment comes out in full force in attack mode with the help of Drudge, FOX, Coulter, etc

Well FOX drudge and Romney can piss off

No. Only if we move to the corner and curl into a fetal position. TURN OUT! They are fighting us tooth and nail because they know we are pissed off and energized -- this is why Newt is being carpet-bombed in Florida to make you assume the position.

I say, "HELL NO!"

OMG is right - she even brought up ‘Tiffany’s’ and the other scripted Romney propaganda. It was disgusting and I immediately switched to The Weather Channel - now watching Robin Meade!!!!!!!!!!

There is something evil going on.

I think that if we’re to help Newt then we need to all and I mean ALL mail FOX on every program they have on, right now friends and tell them that their bias has truly become pathetic, that we are fed up of watching them and that we will now tune out until they stop the attacks and point out who the real Romney is .

While we on here and others know about Drudge, FOX etc are attacking Newt and never ever saying anything about the real Romney many others, millions do not.

So we either try and help in FL against a barrage of attacks and biased reporting from the likes of FOX or we actually go after FOX Drudge and call them out and tell them to stop the attacks while helping him in FL, in my state because right now here in FL, the majority who see an R at the end of the name only go on what they see or hear from the MSM not form here.

you saw that too.
Disco Newt, he shops at Tiffanys which means he is the establishment

WHAT ON EARTH, FOX AND THE ESTABLISHMENT HAS LOST WITH THEIR THEIR HATRED OF NEWT.

So his wife goes to Tiffanys but Romney and family who makes millions are not insiders and yet all of the north east DC machine is going after Newt like the world ends tomorrow .

I stopped watching Hannity about a year ago as he is a fraud.
OR yikes I last watched him about 3 years ago
Greta used to but it is late and I am up early
The five, ARF what a joke of a show that is and only Bolling is alright but still can’t watch it.
Friends was the last show I put on while I got ready but after this morning and attack after attack against Newt then I turned CNN for the first time in over 10 years and it will stay there.

That woman sat there and really told us that we are bring stupid to help Newt, he has no chance, he;s been in DC for so long, where his wife shops, He’s got no chance but hey Romney is a business man and is better.

I’m still mad about all this as WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE, WE PICK OUR CANDIDATES NOT YOU UP IN DC AND THE NORTH EAST

If Romney wins then he will never get my vote but after turning to CNN I saw that CAIN has endorsed NEWT , funny I did not see any of that on FOX

fair and balanced ARF
