Authors: Romney Denied Free Olympic Tickets to 9-11 Widows, Orphans; Gave Them to Utah Legislators

Mitt Romney, in pledging to turn around the Olympics in 2002, had promised to restore the honor and integrity of the scandal-clouded Salt Lake City. The Games captured the world’s attention and became all the more urgent after terrorists attacked us on 9-11. But while Romney invoked the wellspring of American patriotism after the attacks, he neglected their heroes, the fallen firefighters of that early September morning.

Romney’s executive assistant, Donna Tillery, twice denied requests to provide free or discounted tickets to widows and orphans of the felled firefighters but gave them for free to Utah legislators just six weeks later, according to a new book, The Real Romney (HarperCollins, 2012).

Tillery sent e-mails to A.J. Barto, a former Salt Lake City firefighter helping the 9-11 widows and orphans, citing a policy barring giveaways, but Romney gave 100 free surplus tickets ($885 each) to Utah legislators. “I was outraged at the hypocrisy,” Barto told Kranis and Helman. “In less than two months, he went from saying, ‘We’re going to run a tight ship’ to throwing out free tickets to a group of people who could help him politically.” (221)

Cheated on her and married looney wife #2. Cheated on her and married wife #3.

You left out some stuff. He was legally separated from Looney 2 for 6 years. That's when he met wife 3. He tried to reconcile but Looney2 was, well, looney. She did an interview right after they reconciled stating that if he ran for President she'd be on TV the next day making sure that didn't happen. It's posted on FR.

You ain’t the brightest crayon in the box

And that was totally uncalled for.

Goodnight.

"Romney’s executive assistant, Donna Tillery, twice denied requests to provide free or discounted tickets to widows and orphans of the felled firefighters but gave them for free to Utah legislators just six weeks later, according to a new book,..."

OK I give up. Who denied the tickets? Was this Romney's decision, the assistant's, or the reporter's?

Why? I ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. I don’t pretend to be either.

I left out some stuff for sure. I know all the stuff as you do. The good and the bad and the stuff we can’t know that’s between husband and wife. I don’t pretend to know that stuff. But that’s what the media is playing and it will hurt him. Whether we admit it or not. I also remember the Contract with America and how wonderful it was. I remember that Newt was the reason for Clinton’s domestic success. Welfare Reform, etc. But that’s not what’s playing in the media. That’s not what most Americans know.

We can’t make him some conservative icon, that doesn’t exist anyway, and ignore his human faults.

I will say it again and if it’s deleted again so be it.

Don’t you dare tell me about firefighters and cops and their families and 9-11 again. There are those of us who don’t fall for liberal meme and don’t expect anything from anyone. Least of all tickets to some event. Those of us who experienced the terrorist attack personally.

I guess the mod decided my post wasn’t apropos.

Yet another hint as to where Mitt Romney’s true loyalties lie.

And the entire topic is BS. Liberal BS. Focus on his liberal record. It’s enough to turn people off.

Tell you what, you focus on the issues, and I'll focus on everything, even that stuff that plainly shows his lack of character, especially when it is true.

I agree it’s true. So is the lack of “character” of the the frontrunner, Newt. I prefer to look at their votes, their record while in office. When I have to look at their personal lives, I do that too.

So tell you what, I will also focus on everything, personal and political, including character. The only candidate with any “character” is Santorum but he can’t win a primary or general. So we are left with Newt and Romney. Neither of whom is who I want for POTUS but I’ll probably vote for the nom as I did last time. Anyone is better than Obama or whomever is the Dem nom.

That is where you are wrong.

Romney's complete lack of character and morality is ongoing and current, as by the following:

1. Lying last week about Newt, even after the record was publicly aired proving him wrong
2. Still supporting his Socialist Healthcare, even with it's $50 dollar abortions.
3. Refusing to commit to re-instating DADT
4. Lying about always being Pro-Life.
5. Lying about being a conservative.

Newt's failures are in the past and he has publicly stated he has repented.

And your opinion about Santorum is fatally flawed, as is your statement concerning him being the only candidate with "character" (see above), he is a Big-Government, "Compassionate" conservative, which in the final analysis means he is half of a conservative.

Congratulations!

For allowing yourself to be manipulated and abused by the GOP again.

This is why the GOP keeps foisting on conservatives a crap-sandwich, which is what the Liberal Romney is.

They know you won't hold true to your values and principles and will fold when they hold up the Democrat boogyman of the current election season.

They will continue to manipulate the system, and you, until you and others like you, get up off of your knees and stand firm against their totally non-conservative candidates.

Stand firm!

Get up and fight!

Don't surrender your principles, ethics, or values because of fear!

Let them compromise!

No Romney, not now, or in the general!

As Jim is wont to say:

Rebellion is brewing!

Join us or die!

Why should the widows and orphans of 9-11 get free tickets to the Olympics? Didn’t they already get sizable settlements from the government? What’s wrong with them paying for their own tickets, since they have the money? Why should we have more sympathy for these people than for the thousands of other victims of violent crime who get nothing from the government?

It made sense to give the tickets to the Utah politicians. The games were in UTAH, for crying out loud, not NYC.

I couldn’t give you an actual percentage, but most Utah legislators are LDS.

He’s a democrat candidate in a Republican suit. Where have you been the last year. FR is an anti-Romney zone. Would you like to know why?

The LDS leaders chose for him, but given his connections -His uncle was a General Authority- and his standing as LDS royalty, he got a better mission than most and probably did have some say in it.

Oh, really? What’s wrong with those politicians paying for their own tickets, since they have the money?

Look, if Romney wanted to pay for these politicians' tickets out of his own personal funds, then I have no problem with that. But those "free" tickets were paid by someone, and guess who that was -- we taxpayers!
