Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.

"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."

The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.

"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.

He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

Fox News is saying that they actually feel sorry for Newt. He was so excited about getting this endorsement and was given a body slam on the ground. I can’t say I feel sorry for Newt over an endorsement, but Newt should not expect anything. Newt should be able to win the nomination on his own merits. Newt wants endorsement, getting people out of the race, changing rules, etc to get the nomination. What is takes to get the nomination is hard work.

Keep trumpeting left wing democrat rhetoric like 99% versus 1% and soon we’ll be ready to endorse Obama.

Didn’t we just attack Romney for referring to the classes and safety net, bc conservatives want to help ALL Americans???

“The problem with Donald has always been that he doesn’t have a solid set of core values”

Then it’s only right that he endorsed Willard the liberal, who also has no core set of values.

Yes, I first early read the thread where he is thought to e endorsing newt, and Freepers seemed to think trump was brilliant. Now that he’s endorsed mitt, Freepers dump all over him.

Romney and trump are birds of a feather. It’s not a surprise. Only trump is pretty entertaining on tv!

And newt or his staffers or both did a very stupid thing, leaking an endorsement they did not have. There’s egg on one’s face. Then there’s a full Spanish omelette garnished with parsley on the face.

I agree. Some people on this board flip-flop with the wind. I think Trump is a jerk no matter who he endorses. But it will be funny to see all of those people who said how smart Trump was, how important his endorsement is, how he tells it like it is when he was supposed to endorse Newt, turn around and make excuses and now say how terrible Trump is.

Big deal.
Chuck Norris, Herman Cain, and JimRob endorsed Newt. Those are the endorsements I REALLY respect!

Newt needs to have a one on one debate with Donald. Chuck Norris to moderate.

Logically I don't see any way Trump's views and Romney's coincide, but this is politics and you know what they say about politicians.

One the other hand they both seem to like to fire people and don't care about poor people.

So does this mean Trump won't run 3rd party? It would be kind of hypocritical if Mittens was the nominee.

Go Newt!

I can see why you would say that. I am only bragging about my ability to see the politics realistically and not through “head up in the cloud” types that are very common here. I am not bragging any other way.

Trump was used for one thing and one thing only. To make sure Palin wasn’t going to run. Once Palin stepped aside(I love you Sarah but I will never forgive you), Trumped stepped back.

Trump is for Trump. His politics are the same as every rich politicians. Money!!

Bah! It was a spot of fun waiting in suspense. Oh well...

One thing that I am realizing is that I probably need not donate to primary candidates any longer.

The big money takes care of it and decides these things.

I do get to watch and vote on what is left when it gets around to my state. hooboy! yippee!

I am pretty negative today. pfft

Fox News is saying that Newt is PISSED OFF big time. Now why would he be pissed off? Big deal. Newt go on. That is the big problem I have with Newt. He is so dang emotional and insecure. Just worry about working to get the nomination and stop sweating the small stuff. He needs to ignore EVERYTHING and just concentrate on his message getting out. Newt worrying about Mitt is KILLING him politically. Plus you should never let them see you sweat and for the past two weeks, the entire country has seen Newt “sweat” and it is not helping him. Newt should calm down and go on. Just my two cents that he won’t listen to anyway.

I’m really not surprised. I was surprised earlier when the rumours were coming out that he was going to endorse Newt.

Trump has a lot more in common with Mitt Romney - they both are socially-liberal fiscal moderates with big egos and virtually no appeal to the regular people of this country.

In hindsight this isn’t surprising bc Romney emphasizes making China play by the rules and that is Trump’s main theme.

Why is it whenever you post something about Myth Romney I get the suspicion you really support him?

Apparently he does, with people who don’t follow politics but do watch TV (apprentice.)

I’m not sure if it is just about money. He was humiliated by the libs at the Press Dinner. I remember the look on his face. He may actually think that Romney has the best chance of winning. I think he is more interested in getting back at the libs who slammed him for the birth certificate stuff. It’s stupid for people in pop culture to take sides, it costs them money. Remember Oprah, the Dixie Chicks, etc. He is alienating people by taking a side.

you and me both.

Here is the problem .
We have the north east and the beltway, much of the same place really.

They like Romney etc live up there, they work up there they have pals and family up there, .
They hardly ever leave that area for long periods like a year so they go to their elitist pro homo, pro cross dressing cocktail parties and they think it is America.

When they meet a midwesterner or a southerner they are shocked that people can actually not go along with the views of the north east and the beltway.
They have surrounded themselves with all like minded people much like FOX workers have.

Megyn Kelly has got more and more pro homo, pro cross dressing as her time has gone on.

To be honest if the north east went and joined Quebec I wouldn’;t lose any sleep over it providing real social and fiscal conservatives can move here and they take all their illegals, weirdos etc.

Lets be honest north east /beltway republicans for the most part are looked as down here as liberals
