As I understand it from a buddy in the industry, what this means is that they start pouring nuclear-grade concrete almost immediately, like this week.

I’ll believe it when the first megawatts reach residential customers from these plants.
And they will be the first to whine, complain, riot, and devolve once the power is out to feed them their welfare checks, or when they can't get on Facebook to organize some queer or marxist parade. Even the "Occupiers" had to use a toilet occasionally. No power to the water utility? No power to flush. Sit in your own feces and pray you can replenish your supply of batteries for your lanterns so you can continue to degrade public lands.
Sometimes, I kinda wish the entire US would experience a total blackout for a couple of months. Then, let's see what the Marxist eco-nuts and welfare queens/kings/ and other associate "gimmes" do? Of course I'm not serious because it would also impact the good folks.

Good! I was a pipefitter on three nuke plants in Washington. 2 new construction and the third one was shutdown for maintenance.

Bravo, well said. A bit hyperbolic, but close enough. What really would happen is grinding poverty and earlier deaths for many. We’re not that far away from it, on a historical timeline.

I'm not surprised the Fed's here are freeing up monies to do this now. Considering....solar and wind monies have been @#%^#$^# "lost"....back to the DNC.
Now, I'd guess....the nuke guy's are getting in line...and not above taking Fed $$$$.

There’s something about the Shoreham thing that has always bothered me.
Before the first stick of fuel was loaded, the utility and the state had the agreement to abandon the plant. Why did they even bother to take it to criticality? As you know, it makes handling the fuel ever so much more difficult.
I may be a bit cynical but I believe this is totally political. Two in a red right to work state? See Keystone Pipeline and Boeing in South Carolina.
