My prediction for the ticket, after watching tonight’s debate:

It will be Romney/Santorum.

Just a gut feeling.

Newt and Paul, at different ends of the spectrum, may be too extreme, each in his own way, for mainstream Republican voters.

I can’t even begin to imagine what venom and insanity a Mormon/Catholic ticket would bring forth from the Leftists.

Both men would need extra Secret Service protectors.

Great picks! Looks like the A-Team to me. What a contrast to what we have now. Pro-Americans vs. anti-Americans. Why are the polls with the candidates against Obama even close?

Twitter is on FIRE for Newt tonight!
Go NEWT!!!
It was fantastic! I was in a “fight” with one of my friends tonight about Rick, his integrity and voting his core values. Imagine my surprise when he answered that one for her! (but I am sure that it was not the answer she wanted to hear!)

The only man in the room not scared of anything was Gingrich. He has reached a level many never do. Rick and Mitt picked a fistfight and Rick has a muddy ass. Paul came out of the attic for a brief moment for some milk then went right back upstairs.

Destroy Santorum, and you hand Michigan to Romney. The common thinking was Romney would have a big problem if didn’t win Michigan. He might now win Michigan and go full steam ahead with momentum into Super Tuesday. If he gets it, there will be no way in hell for a brokered convention. Romney will be the nominee.

Newt can't possibly get his numbers up in time for Michigan or AZ,

Not so....this was Santorums moment to be the man of the hour....just like all others had theirs....he flubbed big time. You note of course Newt layed back and let Santorum rise to take out Obama in Mich. etc. Newt is manuvering and playing his game....do not underestimate the mans ability to move this race favorable for his time and place again...he moved an entire congress with a Democrat President...he can manuver in an election and is doing just that.

Excellent point. I think the only one who would seriously struggle vs Obama is Mittens, simply because there is no stark contrast to Obummer and the issue of Obamacare is taken off the table.

Can we really afford to lose the issue of Obamacare in the general election? I think not.

I like Newt and Santorum both. I don’t see why I have to like on and dislike the other. IMHO either one of them could beat 0bummer.

Ron Paul will drop out when pigs fly out of you know where.

He obviously believes he’s popular and has a chance of winning. He said so.

He also believes he’s the only one who sees the truth about foreign war involvement.

I don’t mind him getting a little time, but he seemed to get more time than some of the actual candidates. I started fast forwarding through Ron Paul and felt so much better.

Whenever people bring up Newts “baggage” I remind them that King David was an adulteror and a murderer, but he was good enough for GOD...so Newt is damned sure good enough for this country!

Baloney. Numbers in this race have drastically swung in one direction or another on a dime. Bottom line is all of the conservative voters like all of the conservative candidates. They just can’t decide which one they LOVE. It’s not going to be hard to convince them to switch their votes to another conservative. Santorum had an awful night, Newt had a very good one, only hampered by lack of screen time early in the debate. So why are you spending more energy trying to fight for votes for Santorum when the momentum is with Newt now, with NO MORE debates left to change it? It doesn’t matter what the media declares, conservatives are not going to vote for Romney.

All senators do this. Vote for something their president wants even though they have reservations. Vote for a huge bill that has good things in it, but also things one doesn’t agree with.

Overall, Santorum had a good conservative record in the Senate.

I’m not a Santorum guy, but let’s face it... Everyone was attacking him tonight except Newt, the nasty little Ron Paul and Romney were particularly vicious.

I didn’t think he did too badly... not as badly as I’m seeing from comments on this forum.

I’m glad I actually watched the whole thing so I know for myself. He did a decent job defending his Specter vote and Specter did keep his promise about Supreme Court nominees. Where would we be if we hadn’t gotten Roberts and Alito on the Court. Don’t even like to think about it.

Why is it that I can’t remember anyone seriously saying that about Rick Perry? It was all jokes about his honest reactions to not being the best debater
**********************
I thought Perry was a terrible debater but he was still my first choice for president.

I also think Perry was a good sport about it, too. I admire his even personality. And of all the candidates, he seemed most at ease one on one with people.

Perry may have dropped out but I will forever believe he won on character. He is a good man. They don’t make many of ‘em like that any more!
