Gingrich questions Santorum’s electability, blasts Romney’s 'mickey mouse' Medicare proposal

Nashville, Tenn. -- Newt Gingrich said there are "profound reasons" why Rick Santorum lost his re-election bid in 2006, painting a picture of a two-term senator who took positions that would make it "hard for him to carry that all the way to the general."

"He voted for the unions over FedEx," Gingrich told a luncheon of supporters. "I suspect most folks in this state don't know that. But in fact, he was a big labor Republican in Pennsylvania and I suspect when you get to Memphis and you say this is a guy who wanted to guarantee that FedEx gave into the unions, Santorum won't be as popular the following morning."

Recent polling indicates Gingrich is in fourth place here in Tennessee, which is one of the Southern states the candidate is relying on to restore momentum in his campaign. Gingrich said he believes he can do better in this state than the polls indicate, and predicted that after the results in Michigan and Arizona Tuesday, the contest for the Republican nomination will "redefine itself once again."

"We have now outlasted Pawlenty, Bachmann, Trump, Perry, Cain twice," Gingrich told the crowd - emphasizing the ability of his candidacy to outlast the others. He said Santorum is currently enjoying the "national news media momentum" because he "went to three states nobody else was in."

"Santorum was fourth place for three consecutive states. He did something very intelligent. He took all of his resources, he skipped South Carolina, Florida, and Nevada, he went to three states nobody else was in, won the three states, one of which was a disaster for Romney because he dropped from 60 to 35 in Colorado. So Santorum now has got all the national news media momentum." (more)

Santorum will now face a full-frontal comeuppance from the master.
Let the NEWTering begin!

God Bless, Mr. Speaker.

Beautiful picture. Newt will make a great president.

Newt hasn’t even risen after a good debate this time. He totally blew it earlier on. He reminded people of why they don’t like or trust him.

He says some good stuff, but those are words. His actions don’t always match his words.

He has a history.

Chuck!

I just don’t believe the ‘he can’t win because he polls badly amongst women’ mantra. I think it’s pure bull. If you’d take Obama over Gingrich you don’t care about this country. I can’t see women willing to risk their kids’ futures.

Women just can't trust Newt because of his bimbo eruption resume

That 19th amendment isn't looking like such a great idea, now is it?

Clever dig. ;o)

Well, only if you count SC as 3rd- as you appear to do.

Charles, what will happen, will happen. Don’t understand the obsession wt some to try to decide the election on the board.

Not much early voting in Tennessee. I think Santo has a lot at stake tomorrow in terms of electability perception. If he doesn't do well tomorrow he won't win Tennessee.

The media has never been as brutal against Santorum as they were with Newt. Record wise..not ONE candidate running measures up to the former Speaker's accomplishments.

Newt gave solutions first, Newt answered the attacks and responded to every smear against him on his site..Newt.Org. Newt went after the media, Newt attempted to focus the debates on Obama and the differences between each candidates solutions...the others could not rise above the attacks and have proven to be very petty and viscious. What Newt stated about Santorum is a FACT!

Bimbo eruption? BS. He fell out of love with his wives, cheated and then fell in love with the women he cheated with and then married them. Doesn't make it right but it happens and it's not the same kettle of fish as Clinton's bimbos.

As Newt should have done along time ago and believe me Rick Santorum has a slew of negativities. He is a piou fraud.
No more free passes for Little Ricky...no more coddling..it is time to tell the facts about him and let all of America know.

GO NEWT! WOOT! WOOT!

I like Newt, I like Rick, and I’ll gladly vote for either in the general election. I wish we had a hybrid of Newt’s firestorm with Santorum’s warmth but, as it stands, either is better than our Dear Leader.

Excerpt from another article:

Gingrich predicted that after a good day on Super Tuesday, he will go on to win both Mississippi and Alabama, making him the front-runner once again.

“I think we will win both those states the following week. And then, all of a sudden, the same media, which said I was dead in the fall, I was ahead in December, I was dead in early January, I was ahead in mid-January, all of a sudden some of them are going to say, some were saying yesterday, Gingrich will be back again,” Gingrich said.

The Gingrich Plan. It won't be too long before we see if it comes together for him.

He has a history.
************
I know his history. 1994- end of 40 year DEM rule- that no else had been able to mastermind except Newt.

Do you remember how you felt that election night, Nov. 1994, dforest?

Well, that’s Newt’s history. That’s why I’m voting for him.
Others may wish to vote for a preacher- and still others an establishment Wall St crony. That’s their choice.

I’ll vote for the guy who will take on socialism.
