Concern is sinking in over the long-term effects of President Barack Obama's proposed budget cuts to military health care spending.
Critics say that by taking aim at the military health care program by adding additional fees and increasing required payments, the President is dishonoring troops and hurting the military's recruiting power.
The budget put forth by Mr Obama- which still needs to be approved by Congress before being enacted- would create $487billion in cuts over the next 10 years.
One of the biggest areas of contention is the increases of health care fees that specifically target military retirees by boosting their co-pay charges and deductibles.
Some reports cite unidentified administration officials as saying that they hope that the increases would put pressure on the retirees to opt out of their veterans benefits and sign up for the program put in place by President Obama's controversial Affordable Care Act which was approved in 2010.
'Would you stay with a car insurance company that raised your premiums by 345 per cent in five years? Probably not,' an unidentified congressional aide told Fox News, hinting that their plan to get veterans to sign up with other insurers would work....

I don’t have much of a problem with a modest increase in Tricare prices. After my husband retired, we paid $460/year, which is almost nothing when compared to comparable civilian policies. Now we get Tricare “free”, and I really wouldn’t mind having to pay modestly for the benefit. I do think that the junior enlisted should have their Tricare fully subsidized; heaven knows, they don’t earn much as it is.

Ain’t happening here, no TRICARE PRIME available for this retired family and annual medical bills with “free” TRICARE FL plus MEDICARE already run in the thousands and we are relatively healthy
I just don’t know what’s going to be left to give because every agency, every tax eater out there, thinks their increase is just a drop in the bucket we need to swallow, so raise property taxes, income taxes, state taxes, fees, water bill, electric bill, gas, now medical
So I will say to people who are ATYPICAL and fat dumb and happy with their bennies - stop thinking you are speaking for those of us who are not, can NOT be, in PRIME and have great cause to be alarmed
When your $460 goes to $2400 plus a big deductible plus big increase for meds, then get back to us.

Actually in year 4 of the Baraqqi Depression, the military is one of the few viable employment options. The Chicago mob has that aspect covered also.

TRICARE is available to retirees. People who have been subjected to conditions that you simply don't understand. Conditions that take a harsher toll on the human body than their civilian counterparts have experienced... conditions that will likely make seeking medical care more frequently a real possibility.
But of course we want that veteran to "really think before going to the doctor". Let's make sure he/she has a "financial stake in the decision".
I recently lost an uncle who died an agonizing death due to exposure to Agent Orange back in the late sixties. His cancer came upon him suddenly, and he had very little time to burn up your precious dollars on his medical care. No one could foresee his situation.
I worry, because in '91 (about the time you were born) I was being forced to take an untested pill every day to supposedly offer some protection against exposure to nerve agents; weapons that my government ASSURED me (mistakenly) that I would subjected to. I was forced to take an injection against anthrax; an immunization that was STILL untested when it was used on troops again right after 9/11. Days were spent living in Kuwait, where the air was constantly black from the smoke of oil well fires, and the soot was in our food and water as well. Days without fresh food, adequate sleep, or even primitive personal hygiene. Never mind being shot at, or being in the vicinity of chemical weapons being destroyed, or clearing vehicles that have been destroyed by rounds made of depleted uranium.
Nah, no reason the troops who have endured those conditions should have any easier (or cheaper) access to a system to keep tabs on their health. Instead, lets jack up the premiums and co-pays so they will really "think" before going to the doctor.
Nobody is whining and crying because unlike my uncle, we were all volunteers. We went with the full knowledge and understanding of the situation we were going into. But we also went with the promise of our government that in return for the sacrifice, we would be looked after with regard to our health.

Well, I’m sure that they’ll use the money they save by screwing Veterans to reduce the national debt instead of using it for something so blatant as buying votes for the Democrat party. Oh, that’s right......it is the Democrats....spend my money well little Democrat freeloader.....I didn’t mind defending you, but do you have to rob me as a way of showing thanks?

Seriously, taking care of at least service related issues is like the third rail of veteran politics. If this new system is not even caring about that, well that's Obama and the Rats and it's cold.
I don’t mind paying a bit more, but from what I’ve read, I’m looking at paying $2000 in a year or two. And I wouldn’t mind that, except my retirement pay after taxes has gone down in the 4 years since I retired, and it looks like I’ll soon be paying for birth control pills for sluts at expensive law schools...
