Santorum, Gingrich Two Man Debates
Free Republic ^ | Nevuary 33, 2084 | Gulfbreeze

Newt was on Bill Bennett’s show this morning. He sounded very tired (to be expected) but encouraged that he had done well and picked up his home state. He sounded committed to the idea of promoting his values and agenda.

Neither of these two, Santorum and Gingrich, really want to get out but they are both realizing that America's third choice is careening towards a delegate victory. If neither of them is going to get out, Gingrich and Santorum need to have some Lincoln Douglas modified debates that exclude the two liberal candidates.

I think they would begin to siphon back some of the protest votes going to Ron Paul as well as pull back some of the “follow the leader” votes that have been drifting to Romney.

Yes; so Newt should announce his withdrawal tomorrow.

“Lincoln-Doublas”

As I recall, Doublas lost because his name was spelled funny.

[Take away the New England liberal states and the states with large mormon populations and what’s left for Romney? Not much!

}

You mean, like the entire West Coast, including the inner coastal states?

Stop it! I can't laugh this hard, so much in one place!

Joe,
Than you need to figure out how Newt can get votes. He is great I will give you that, but he can’t get people to vote for him. That is a major problem that he needs to address before talking about debates.

I also don’t think a Lincoln Douglas debate would go over too well at this stage of the game. It’s too far gone to help either candidate.

The moment I woke up this morning and took a hard look at the statistics, reality came on like a double espresso!

As opposed to the Newt Kool Aid drinkers who remain convinced that their guy is the only man who can possibly win despite having won only two states on his home turf?

Santorum is not going to go one on one with Gingrich.

Looks to be a lot more accurate than the crap you’ve been spamming the forum with. And this guy even provided some links. In the past few days, I’ve seen yours without them.

I specifically addressed one whopper to you, and you are still posting it on the forum unaltered.

Have you successfully challenged any of what this guy posted here, on point?

Gingrich & Santorum have already had a Lincoln-Douglas style debate:

I am now to the point, where the best we can do, is keep both candidates in the race and stir up a brokered convention. Between the two, they do better in various states together in the race, where if one were to drop out, most of the votes from either would go between Romney and Paul.

I say this because the majority of voters (independents included, view the biggest reason to vote for a candidate are due to the economy.) That Demographic, mostly views Romney as the most experienced Executive, with Business experience, Family Man, etc.

IOW, Newt and Santorum stand the best chance of hurting Romney of they both stay in.

No, I am talking more about the Koolaid drinkers who still think that Santorum can win.

The problem with that approach is that it only demonstrates speaking and debating ability, as well as vision.

Newt handily wins in these categories. I think we all know this. So there is no reason to do it, much as I enjoy Lincoln Douglas style debates. I see why newt wants it, though.

The problem is that newt is not dependable, and he’s not really a good person. He is too selfish to represent us or be a trusted steward of the presidency. So another debate wouldn’t change that. America won’t learn to love him more. I realize that newt supporters seem to hate Santorum.

It’s a given that we all prefer someone. Now, do we wish to stop Romney with Santorum, or not stop Romney? Newt is not stopping Romney even slightly. Face the music and decide. Soon. Because Romney is becoming our nominee. Die on the newt hill? Will it have been worth it?

I think Gingrich and Santorum should agree to meet with a group of genuine conservatives—e.g., Jim DeMint, Sarah Palin, Ken Cuccinelli, etc.—and lay out their total platforms in the form of PROMISES (that will be published) and let the group pick the most conservative based upon what they promise to do if elected, the other candidate to back out. Then make public the chosen candidate and platform and let everyone get behind them.

Go pick a fight with someone else, I am not available

Unless you are still stuck in the 5th grade, this is not a playground, and you are not the bully in charge of it. So grow up stop whining.

Like Sarah Palin just said to Santorum and his fanatics; OH, BOO-HOO!

Most of us realize Santorum is a long shot. Maybe even a 'hail Mary' pass when your team is down by four points with 12 seconds left on the clock.

Newt, on the other hand, is a 'hail Mary' pass when your team is down by four touchdowns with 12 seconds left on the clock.

I agree with you. I just wish Santorum’s staff would stop calling for Newt to leave. Newt is an adult and will make that decision on his own just like Santorum will make the decision if it comes to that too....I really hate that.
