Gerry Goffin and Carole King had been handed the management of Dimension Records by Donny Kirshner, and they made it a success. It was Dimension that released the Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich group known as the Raindrops. One 1962 song from the Dimension era is a historical curiosity: Carole King’s first vocal recording, which made it to #22 on the charts. This song was supposed to go to Bobby Vee, but Kirshner let Carole have a shot at it.

The Middle 8 bars show real genius. There is one key change at the beginning of the Middle 8, another in the middle of the Middle 8, and the chords she uses to get back to C Major are something that would have impressed Franz Schubert 140 years earlier.

That Daylight Savings time is a hoot for me. I work all across northeastern Arizona and have to cover a lot of ground. I leave home, it’s AZ time. I hit the Navajo res and it’s an hour later, zoom across to Keams Canyon or somewhere on the Hopi res and I’m back on AZ time and then hit the Navajo res again before I get home. LOL! What a mess.
