Gingrich calls for Panetta resignation

Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich on Friday called on Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to resign, rebuking him for telling a congressional panel that the U.S. would “seek international permission” before intervening in the ongoing bloodshed in Syria.

“I have been told that the secretary of defense has suggested that international agreements override the Congress,” Gingrich told supporters in Gulfport, Mississippi. “If he believes that, he should resign tonight.”

Responding to a statement that the U.S. was placing military resolutions of the United Nations, NATO and the Arab League ahead of those made by Congress, Panetta told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday: "You know, our goal would be to seek international permission.

"You know, our goal would be to seek international permission. And we would come to the Congress and inform you and determine how best to approach this, whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress."

The key phrases are "seek international permission" and "whether or not we would want to get permission from this Congress". Revealing choice of words by Panetta and a screw-up on two fronts - first, we don't need international 'permission' and secondly, an operation either requires Congressional approval or it doesn't. His wording suggests they would first try to go around Congress.

You “conveniently forget” that G.W.Bush (POTUS#43) went to the UN because that org was involved in Desert Storm, 1991, and thanks to the NWO thinking of his father, G.W.B.Bush(POTUS#41), the UN had been trying to enforce the terms of the Armistice - in typical Kabuki theater style - which Iraq had broken numerous times and about which Clinton (POTUS#42) did nothing except hide behind.

The moral of the story is don’t expect other nations to join you in fighting off the bad guys. If you can’t do the whole thing by yourself, be creative. We had a treaty with Kuwait and were right to go kick Iraqi butts, but POTUS#41 is a globalist and wanted it to look, well, like a righteous group opposing evil.

After years of Saddam Hussein violating the terms of the Armistice he signed with 40+ allies of the U.S., we had every right to go back in and remove that son of a bitch. Going to the UN by this time was required because we were tied down by agreements.

What we should NOT have done is stay and arrogantly try to nation build, both in Iraq and Afghanistan, this in an area historians refer to as “the graveyard of empires”.

“... right wing phoney baloney...”; I think not.

There is going to be rampant and massive and blatant fraud in the upcoming election it will make us the laughing stocks of the world. Even Putin's election will appear ‘clean’ by comparison. And 0 will just laugh in our faces as he tosses the Constitution into the trash.

>This nation used to have a provision for treason.<

It still does, the problem is that the traitors are now in power and are deciding who fits the definition now of being called a traitor.

These are the very people our founding fathers were concerned about taking power

The only curve on this ball I could possibly see would be if the agreement was in a formal treaty ratified by Congress. Congress hasn’t gone this looey yet, has it?

In 1998, when Bill Clinton was preparing for war with Iraq, John-Jean Kerry said the United States explicitly does NOT need to get international permission to protect itself.

That’s NOT the first time Obama and his administration acted in an unconstitutional manner. Obama’s decision to bomb Libya and spend $2 billion for that, was done WITHOUT the Congress approval.

Can anyone tell me why it was in the US interest to bomb that country? Obama had only helped al-qaeda Islamic fanatic operatives to get their hands on Libya’s oil.

Neither Obama, nor his hard-left ANTI-American administration cares a fig about the interests of the United States or the US Constitution.

The ONLY man, who can get us rid of all that, is NEWT GINGRICH.

112th Congress has filed an impeachment motion against President Obama for his abuse of power regarding his military offensive on Libya leader Gaddafi without an act of congress.

The filing reads as below:

112th Congress

2d Session

H. CON. RES. 107

Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Mr. JONES submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.

Whereas the cornerstone of the Republic is honoring Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of Congress that, except in response to an actual or imminent attack against the territory of the United States, the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress violates Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution and therefore constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.

Newt Gingrich expressed pessimism about the U.S. mission in Afghanistan on Sunday, saying the U.S. goals in the region might not be “doable.”

“I reached a conclusion frankly about the entire region that is much more pessimistic than Washington’s official position. I think it’s going to get substantially worse, not better. And I think that we are risking of young men and women in a mission that may frankly not be doable.”

Newt G. should be carefull about another intervention in Syria He would appear ,like Obama, as the supporter of the islamist revolutions in the arab world .

Thank you. Why should we give a ratsass about Egypt or Syria? Why are we handing these countries over to the muslim brotherhood and their ilk?

Drill here, drill now.
