A US soldier in Afghanistan has killed at least 16 civilians and wounded five after entering their homes in Kandahar province, senior local officials say.

He left his military base in the early hours of the morning and opened fire in at least two homes; women and children were among the dead.

Nato said it was investigating the "deeply regrettable incident".

I know what you mean. It just doesn’t compute. Gotta be something more to it or some kind of out right lie. So many questions.

Consider that Afghans reported both the recent koran burning incident as well as this shooting incident to photographers with their version of what took place :
2/21/2012 Korans desecrated by prisoners (scroll half way down page for the following quote)
". . .Photographs surfaced purporting to show the damaged Qurans. A photographer for Agence France-Presse said Afghans who work inside the airfield told him they obtained the Qurans there. But the U.S. military said that was unlikely.
Then in today's story,
"Villagers showed an Associated Press photographer 15 bodies, including women and children, who they said were killed by the American.
May I suggest the identified photographer in today's story, "Allauddin Khan" as well as the unidentified AFP photographer in the burned korans story have their own agenda and are pushing an oppositional narrative detrimental to US troops. I don't trust any of them to tell the truth and would go so far as to suggest they are collaborating with the enemy.

One can't possibly imagine what it must be like to serve in such a chaotic situation. The people are hostile, the government is incomprehensible, our own Commander-in-Chief is not behind our troops and we have announced we have a disoriented mission and no path to success, so we're leaving soon.

Every soldier there must be wondering why and if they may soon die for no reason.

We need to get the hell out of that hell hole and leave those sixth century morons to live in the depravity they so love. I wouldn’t waste one more life on these inconsiderate bastards. The best way to deal with them is to kill the hell out of them when they attack us. Always make sure the price they pay is enormous.

Get the F out and put these guys on the border. Set up a system of tactical nuke options to deal with any future Taliban operations. Our boys get killed for nothing while the Chinese just laugh, make money and hoard oil and resources. They are playing “Risk” while we are just playing “Chump”.

Remember when the idiot Bush and his stupid dhimmi drone Karen Hughes used to bloat on about "see all the girls who can now go to school!". I never gave two shits about Afghan girls or women. We went there because 3,000 Americans were murdered, not to build schools and act as a NOW chapter in Kabul. Get out!

Our troops will return home, and some will get flashbacks when they see the many ragheads walking around in their neighborhood.

as usual we don´t have all the details. How do we know the soldier was not under fire himself or threatened by a hord of angry muslims? We know they are a bit hot under the collar after the burning of some book.
The soldier should be commended for fighting the ennemy.
It is his job to preserve us from +islam+ and if it means going on a spree so be it.

How can we explain to the world that the US cannot control it’s own military?

This is a shameful act that diminishes our great nation and anyone who makes light of it is a fool.

I have to admit I actually bought into that. I had a vision of our making a difference....I was wrong.... most Muslims believe in this sixth century BS and that includes women. We should restrict our intentions to buying only such products from them as is necessary and decline any other associations.

Keep saying that.

Posters on this board would rather pretend China doesn’t exist.

China growing, and growing, and growing from what used to be American factories and American jobs. China building a space program. China building an equivalent to our own (canceled) F-22. China fields an aircraft carrier.

China growing. Is too uncomfortable for a lot to even talk about.

So we pretend they don’t exist. Too many preconceived notions are invested in the “free trade” cult. Sending American jobs to a communist nation is *good*, you see.

Cognitive dissonance it’s called - any uncomfortable new information contradicting strongly held views, is simply rejected.

As if it doesn’t exist. Holding hands over ears, “la la la la la I can’t heeeear you!”

Wonder if this is what it was like, in 1935. As the world stood by, not noticing.
