Gingrich Spox Responds to Jay Carney on Gas Prices

Atlanta, GA – Newt Gingrich Communications Director Joe DeSantis released the following statement responding to Jay Carney’s assertion that saying we can return to $2.50 gas “is lying.”

“On the issue of gasoline prices, Newt Gingrich has the White House running scared and running on empty. That’s a truth the White House cannot deny. Polls show the American people reject President Obama’s excuses and fantasy solutions like algae. They want Newt’s $2.50 gas plan to dramatically increase domestic oil production so we can get lower prices at the pump.”

The problem I see is, who is going to drill for oil in this country for only $2.50/gallon?

Can you come back to give us a report of the Hannity interview with Newt.

The spokesperson is right on about the Obama regime being afraid of Newt's message. Obama is so out of touch with his failed logic.

Remove barriers to entry into the oil drilling market and diminish the regulatory largesse, and suppliers will leap in a heartbeat to commence drilling.

Also it wasn’t that long ago when you could still buy $2.50/gal gasoline at the pump.

Jay Carney and Obama need to be reminded that most Americans are not the dufusses they think we are.

Under Bush 2, when Gas was going up to $4/gal, the libs said there was no way to lower it, that we would not see oil prices drop bvelow $100/barrel ever again.

Then Bush simply announced that he was opening up drilling all over, the gulf, off shore, the ANWR, Dakota.

The Saudis and others couldn’t lower their prices quick enough to try and get out in front of that. They knew what it would mean, even if it did take 3-5 years. They wanted to undercut it and make it economically not feasable.

Prices dropped like a rock and soon we had $1.89/gal gas again...within about six months.

We could do the same thing any time.

IMHO, Newt should be shooting for under #2.00/gal, because 4 years ago that’s exactly what happened.

I believe the next GOP President simply needs to open up all those areas and go for it...even if the Saudis and others lower prices. Take their lower prices now, and then when our oil does kick in, even if it then means $2.25 per gallon, we take it and cut the Saudis and all the others off...tariff the heck out of their products and let them drown in the stuff.

We would then be able to be the largest exporter in the world and we would set the price.

That will never happen under an Obama.

When we got gas yesterday here in South Florida, we paid $4.02 -cash price was $3.97.

people need to wake up-the more we drill here, we save so much money, create jobs, supply and demand will lower the price. We would be such a strong country—Oh, I forgot, the leftists want us in being a weaker nation. ( as Hillary says, the USA is too powerful compared to other nations-power back to the common sense thinkers away from the leftists/socialist mindset)

You think like me! When I saw the $2.50 I thought - why not lower. I think he’s being very conservative with that figure, which is good.

Bachmann liked to remind us that gas was under $2 when Obama took office, and the main thing holding us back from $2 gas is Obama.

Newt already said $2.50 was considered by his experts the price at which the suppliers would find it profitable to drill the new areas. Otherwise he would have targetted a lower price.

Newt’s on Hannity now, listen live here:

There is an equilibrium to economics. Whatever the market price is, it should be set by competition or supply and demand. That is essentially the essence of Newt Gingrich’s message. You don’t let government get in the way by blocking production of oil or let them determine the competition. Communist in government always say yeah but we have to ‘wait ten years’ before we realize a boost in production - that’s BS. Those clowns have been saying that poop for over 30 years and then go about blocking free enterprise. And Obama will promote the fantasy of ‘green’ algae will solve the country’s energy problems. You got to be some kind of stupid to believe that.

You have to understand the left’s hidden agenda, which really isn’t so hidden.

There is a “fighting words” exception to assault prosecution in many jurisdictions.

Calling someone a “liar” is one of those “fighting words.”

Too bad Newt is too much of a gentleman.

.

Yes ... but remember when Bush-43 opened-up offshore drilling towards the end of 2008 ?

Gas prices dropped ... seriously ..

And new exploration and drilling continued unabated ...

Nope, it was $2.99 at the cheapest stations here in Houston at the beginning of the year.
