The Irish are Irish all year and damn proud of it. They drink and fight all year. St Patrick’s Day is the day we all pretend to be Irish for 24 hours.
So, by Maher’s “logic”, Southerners can proudly be Southerners all year, but on St Crackers Day, blacks and pansy yankee liberals have to wear the Confederate Flag and pretend to be Southern.

It is amazing how these Yankee liberals get their panties in a wad over the Confederate Battle flag. Mrs BN & I recently watched “Stephen Fry in America”, the episode in which he toured the Deep South. At one stop in South Carolina he asked his hostess, a black school teacher, about the flag and all the Confederate stuff.
She said that some of her students wore the flag on their jackets. It was just their way of celebrating their heritage. She had no problem with it. She also said that they considered her to be their favorite teacher.
At first, Stephen Fry seemed quite surprised, but later, enlightened. He is a good observer, very objective. Good series, BTW, and available on Netflix.

St Cracker Day and Black History Minute. Is it true that the term cracker comes from the days of slavery? I heard that the slave master was called the cracker because of the cracking noise his whip made. I don’t know if that true or not.

I don’t have HBO at home, but when I travel and the hotel has HBO, I never miss the chance to NOT watch Maher’s show.
Democrats are not bigots, sexist and/or racist when they attack Christians (Catholic or Protestant), white republicans, conservative women, or conservative Blacks.

Unlikely, but the Libs are masters at revising history. There are plenty of ranchers in Florida who proudly call themselves crackers. They say this is an old term and refers to being able to hear them crack their whips from far off while driving cattle to other pastures. BTW, I wonder if Bill Maher likes to eat at Cracker Barrel.
