The Newt Gingrich presidential campaign is taking on more of a marathoners pace to accompany its insistence that Gingrich plans to see the Republican nomination contest through to the August convention...
Monday...Gingrich convened about 15 top campaign advisers outside Washington, D.C., to examine the months ahead... before flying to Louisiana, where he plans to spend the week campaigning ahead of Saturdays primary.
...Gingrich [has] endured a fresh round of calls for him to exit the race
Gingrich has said that if he felt Santorum could defeat Romney and President Barack Obama one-on-one, he would gladly step aside, but he does not...
[Santorum]..has struggled with assembling an organization in key states, and his decision to campaign in Puerto Rico last week appeared to be a major blunder...
I think Santorum should want us in, Conway said. I know he wants a clear shot at Romney, but does he really want Romney to have a clear shot at him?
Gingrich ...is looking at his birthplace of Pennsylvania, ... Wisconsin, Maryland and DC, where Santorum did not make the ballot, as states where Gingrich can siphon a few delegates away from the front-runners in the next few weeks.
The under-the-radar strategy will likely be a tough sell to donors
Im sure those are some of the things that go through a candidates mind as they are wondering, waiting for my ship to come in, Gingrey said.
Gingrich has given no public indication that such a time is approaching, and he hammered home the long-haul strategy at Monday's meeting, according to Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond.
As the meeting wound down, Hammond said Gingrich asked his campaign manager, Michael Krull, to remind Gingrich and the staff each day how many days remain until the convention.
As of Monday, it was 161.

Happy it’s getting old calling us NEWT supporters idiots. We are entitled to vote our consciences, just as you are. By the way, maybe you’ve been out in the rain too long.Go NEWT.
What ever makes you think people smart enough to vote for Gingrich would be dumb enough to change their votes to Ricky?
Sorry, but there’s very little difference between Romney and Santorum, and if it’s down to just the two of them, Romney would win easily because no candidate is more unlikeable than Santorum.
The problem is that most GOP voters, including a lot of Freepers, actually like big government and the nanny state. They just want it to be their nanny state.
...but then what's their opinion against yours?
LOL
Happy, respectfully, I wish you might consider not being so judgmental.
Given a choice between a pious man and a money man — we have instead decided to continue our support for a man of actual ideas and vision consistent with the Founders America.
In that sense, we Newt supporters have no vested interest- we are an ad hoc group of citizens first and only devoted to the Constitution. Therefore, we are unrelenting- and unapologetic for so being. -:)
Vin
Don't want any of you to get away with acting all surprised, you know.
I can relate.
I’m with you. He’s been endorsed by the most conservative backers in America, Michael Reagan , Fred Thompson, Sarah Palin and more I can’t think of right now. Why are republicans voting for ANOTHER RINO? Go Newt!
Now Napster, do I sense just a tinge of sarcasm in your post?
Don’t give in to the Dark Side, my friend. Newt Skywalker will rise again. -:)
If Rick loses it’s Rick’s fault. Stop blaming others.
>> Romney and Santorum are identical in their love for big government and nanny-statism..
It amazes me, livius, how few seem to acknowledge this detail.
Rick is a good man, but not the right man.
Go Newt!!!
>> thanks to Newt.
A pathetic and bogus excuse.
Of course it was sarcasm. I thought it was cute....maybe not really cute.
I’m in- until Newt’s out.
Agree.
Great. Just what we need. One more bleeding heart social conservative holding the reins of power. Come to Bamer and get you some more of that "Compassionate Conservatism".
FWIW - it got a chuckle out of me. ;o)
ME THREE, ME FOUR, ME FIVE, ME SIX, AND ME TOO (that was for my husband).
I think there must be a “Newt” blackout. No interviews, no coverage at all. This is still a 4 man race. I just cannot sit through one more Santorum interview. The man puts me to sleep. Romney on the other hand, is just the other hand. Dull, with nothing but canned lines. Mr. Newt is so exciting and full of historical notes that apply to today's problems. You never know what he will say next, and I want to be there when he says it.
It is Mr. Newt all the way to Tampa, where I believe he will pair up with either Ms. Sarah or Mr. Alan West. Either would be an incredible pair up, and can you imagine the debates?
Yep...voting for Newt this Saturday in La.My wife and I are two good votes for Newt...Hope a lot of more people down here feel the same way
Good breakdown.
Romney = crony capitalism
Santorum = (Well, I tend to agree with Santorum’s moral positions, but he seems more political than genuine)
Gingrich = liberty
