In Defense of George Zimmerman (vanity)

Posted on 03/24/2012 9:55:26 AM PDT by TigerClaws

Since there's been a public rush to judgment and many key facts are being ignored by the MSM I’ll defend Zimmerman.

1. He was walking in a public place. Nothing illegal about walking behind someone.

2. He had a legal right to his gun.

3. There were robberies in his neighborhood. Someone who didn’t live there (trespass?) was walking through.

4. He called 911 but without telling the cops where to go when they arrived there’s no suspect if it turns out a robbery took place.

5. He lost sight of TM and headed back to his SUV.

6. TM confronted him and started hitting him.

7. TM broke his nose.

8. Zimmerman asked a witness for help and to call 911.

9. Zimmerman fired his gun in self defense due to threat of immediate bodily harm.

Okay?

What’s your case to prosecute him or even arrest Zimmerman?

Zimmerman can sue you personally for malicious prosecution so your career and wealth are 100% on the line making this decision.

He was told not to pursue the guy but to wait for the cops. That was his mistake. If he had been attacked in his car, he would have been within his rights to use his weapon, to stand his ground.

You don't understand.

The Alinskyites have been preparing this anti-white gun owner campaign for decades.

They thought this was their chance.

But he ain't white, he was attacked, and there is an eyewitness.

This thing will backfire on them.

The object has been achieved: to stir up a community that is suffering from paranoia and desperately trying to figure out why after fifty years they are not prospering as well as the Hispanics and other minorities.

“He was told not to pursue the guy”

Wrong.

He was never told not to follow, not “pursue”, Martin. The dispatcher when learning Zimmerman was following Martin said, “that’s not necessary”. Far from an order and the dispatcher has no legal authority to order a civilian anyway.

Do you have an agenda here or are you merely misinformed by the MSM?

He was told but told by those who had no authority themselves. He was told THEY didn’t need him to do that...they couldn’t ‘order’ him not to do it. SO WHAT?

He was on the way back to his truck, not car, when the black boy attacked him...

Just to be clear:

a) A 911 operator has no authority to tell anyone to do anything.

b) Can't find it now, but there was a recording of a 911 call where a woman said she had a gun and was hiding from a burglar and the 911 operator told her not to shoot. So, in this case, when she shot the guy, she was “wrong” to do so? After all, she didn't do what the 911 operator told her to do. What about that guy in Texas that shot the burglars that went after his neighbors home? He shot the guys even though the 911 operator told him not to. Was he wrong?

c) We see all the time after a citizen successfully resists being victimized, the police saying on camera, “Well, we don't recommend people fight back. . .” So, if someone fights back they are wrong? because the police say don't fight back?

We don't know what happened as the stories of the sequence leading up to the first blow being thrown by the thug, but there are a few clear facts, namely, the thug went after Z when Z was returning to his car, and witnesses also say the thug was on top of Z, pummeling him and Z was hollering for help (no one helped). Z defended himself from being possibly beat to death by the 6'2” thug/gansta, or shot when the thug found Z’s gun.

Photos of the REAL thug are most instructive when compared to the supposed innocent 13-yr old in the photo the family released.

Here’s my version: some idiot stalks another idiot. The second idiot turns and punches the first idiot. The first idiot pulls his gun and shoots the second idiot.

There are two possible versions and without knowing which is the truth I am having a hard time with this. What if zimmerman was pursuing Trayvon and Trayvon decided to confront his pursuer?

Or what if Zimmerman stopped pursuing Trayvon and Trayvon sensing weakness jumped him?

Need more reliable info. Also need to know if the shooting happened on private property and who owned that property.

In his public letter to the citizens of Sanford to answer specific questions raised, the City Manager stated:

If Zimmerman was told not to continue to follow Trayvon, can that be considered in this investigation?

Yes it will; however, the telecommunications call taker asked Zimmerman “are you following him”. Zimmerman replied, “yes”. The call taker stated “you don’t need to do that”. The call taker’s suggestion is not a lawful order that Mr. Zimmerman would be required to follow. Zimmerman’s statement was that he had lost sight of Trayvon and was returning to his truck to meet the police officer when he says he was attacked by Trayvon.

Order or not, it was imprudent, even foolish.

And why didn’t the thug call 911 himself?

He was on his phone and told his girlfriend he was being followed. Why. Didn’t. He. Call. The. Police? Why?

Instead, he ambushed Z at Z’s truck and began to beat the life out of him.

The thug turned this into a violent incident, not Z.

if the assault took place near Zs' SUV then that lends credence to Zs' claim that he was returning to his vehicle and was not in pursuit.

He WAS pursuing? Why? He is not a cop.

Obviously he should not have got out of his car. He seems not to have adequate cause to do so. He is supposed to be an observer, no more.

This is the United States of America. Zimmerman can get out of his car whenever he damn well pleases.

He was advised not to follow. Not ordered not to follow. I think he made a mistake by following. However, he was well within his rights to do so. If he was indeed assaulted on the way back to his vehicle he has every right to defend himself. Stand Your Ground is irrelevant.

Hulka, I have been looking all over for current pictures of the deceased "innocent" Martin with no luck. Have you found any?
