As Dick Cheney recovers from heart transplant surgery, questions are being raised about whether the former vice president is too old for a new heart.

Cheney, 71, who received the new heart Saturday at a hospital in Falls Church, Va., has been on the cardiac transplant list for more than 20 months.

Some medical centers will not perform a heart transplant on patient over 65, but other major centers will perform transplants on patients who are as old as 72.

Those freepers are braindead! Who else gets heart transplants other than very ill heart patients and the elderly? And in today’s world, 71 ain’t that old. It was reported that Cheney waited two years for the transplant. Politicizing medicine evil beyond belief.

Were libs upset then Steve Jobs got a liver transplant quickly (keep in mind that there are no liver dialysis machines so once your liver stops working, you have days left). No, of course not, we all heard how brave he was and they made a special point that his money in no way got him to the front of the list.

Nevertheless, he did have cancer, though I never heard it, it seemed that the reason he needed a transplant was that his pancreatic cancer had metastasized (this is speculation) but Jobs also blew off getting real medical treatment for nine months while he took vitamins and a special diet. Now, if you want to go the hippy way, that's fine but you should also do what your doctor says the second he was diagnosed. Doctors also don't like to give viable organs to people with metastasized cancer either.

The bottom line is quality of life and he has (Cheney) plenty of that left and HE waited on the list for twenty months. Liberals just hate him. How old is Soros (82), You can bet they'd have no problem if he got a transplant.

Bill Ayers is around 68, you can bet there wouldn't be an outcry if he needed one or Jimmy Carter (88).

He’s been on a waiting list for 2 years.

God speed Mr. Vice President.

Thank God, he was not subject to obamacare.

Praise God.

We have all seen Dick Cheney answer these libs time and again. He’s always frank and straightforward; and REALLY, REALLY not giving a flying rip what they say OR what they “think”. REALLY, REALLY, TRULY not caring.

Believe me, he’s not going to be tuning in to Bill Maher and crying in his bouillon soup and jello that “Maher is being mean to him”. If anything, if he does happen to roll past Maher while channel surfing, he will only give a wry laugh and consider the source. - Even if his donor was a lib, Cheney’s strong conservative brain is strong enough to defeat the possible liberal donor heart.

I always liked Richard Cheney. Seemed like a brutally honest guy you'd like to have a beer with.

Interesting how that “Complete Lives Model” scale doesn’t even extend all the way to 80 years old, it just sort of fades out around 76 or so. Wanna bet that gentle downward slope drops straight off the cliff to ZERO chance of “interventions” about 1mm past the view shown?

Kill Obamacare. Every paragraph, every sentence, every letter, every punctuation mark. Kill it dead.

Kill Obamacare, save lives.

Didn't Bob Casey Sr. have a lung and heart transplant before he kicked? This was ok with no nasty comments from the drive by’s.

Very nice sentiment. I hope he can enjoy a cold beer with his new heart, should he so desire!

Listening to the news doctors this morning, Cheney's case wasn't expedited or influenced in any way. He's been getting by using other means for twenty years. Then he had to wait in line, just like anybody else for a match.

Now back to pondering what replacement that would benefit all of us the most. Hmmm....not that hard.

Watch, a journalist will find some heartbroken family whose young mother died because the heart that would have justly gone to her, went to Cheney. You know it’s likely to happen.

Kill Obamacare, save lives.

Now that's a slogan!

Notice also the "odds of receiving an intervention" for the very young. Truly this regime despises babies and the elderly.

And this is what the brightest minds on the planet have come up with.

At 71, he could have a lot of good years ahead and hopefully he will continue to bless our nation with his wisdom and service.

I have left-wing associates who for years have spewed the most vial venom toward VP Cheney.

I am sure they will be insufferable over this, and I will call them callous, heartless and vile.

There were some freepers who also said he was to old to get a new heart.

What is going on at FR? or has it always been this way? What business is it of theirs? They sound like good little commie/marxists with that attitude. Although it's another subject and I don't know your viewpoint, but the Zimmerman/Martin case is another astounding issue on here with FReepers ready to join the hoodie gangs and hang the man. Some of those commenting completely distorted the known facts that have been published.

May this new heart give Cheney another 50 years of tormenting them all!! God Bless Dick Cheney.

And, one more time!

Sarah proven right. Again.

There shall be death panels.

Not too old now, he already has one. I am sure libs would make sure Ole Bill Clinton got one if needed. Libs are being the death panel on their own by declaring him too old. We want to steer very clear of their judgment.

My younger brother is 72 YO and will be 73 in June. He was on a waiting list for almost a year for a lung transplant. In early February he received a double lung transplant and was moved into Re-Hab last week. He is doing good and is looking forward to many more years of aging. He says he wants to catch up with his older brother (me) but, that would mean I would have to die and I ain’t quite ready for that. ;-)

Prayers have worked. Praise!
