With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.
That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.
Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.
In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

Keep in mind, Norm, that Trayvon was unknown to Zimmerman and acting suspiciously or on drugs and dressed like a thug while walking through Zimmerman’s neighborhood that had several burglaries recently.
If I was Zimmerman I would have probably followed Trayvon, too.

Funny. I just checked our Neighborhood Watch by-laws and I see nothing there prohibiting lawful carry.

I don't see where you're going with this accusation that Zimmerman's dad got this out. The media is looking for every scrap of information they can, and officials have been speaking off the record because some may want to correct the impression that this kid Martin was some kind of choir boy, whereas the truth is that Zimmerman was a literal choir boy.

First of all, why do you refer to the shooter by his last name but the victim by his first name?
Second, why do you say he was a “guest” of the HOA? I’m a member of an HOA and I’ve never seen one person invite someone into the neighborhood.
