Trayvon Martin shooting: George Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him, then began hammering his head
Orlando Sentinel via Sun-Sentinel ^ | Monday, March 26, 2012 | Rene Stutzman

...Police Say

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.

Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.

In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

Zimmerman told police he shot the teenager in self-defense.

SNIP

Police have been reluctant to provided details about all their evidence, but this is what they've disclosed to the Sentinel:

Zimmerman was on his way to the grocery store when he spotted Trayvon walking through his gated community.

Trayvon was visiting his father's fiancée, who lived there. He had been suspended from school in Miami after being found with an empty marijuana baggie. Miami schools have a zero-tolerance policy for drug possession.

Zimmerman called police and reported a suspicious person, describing Trayvon as black, acting strangely and perhaps on drugs.

Zimmerman got out of his SUV to follow Trayvon on foot. When a dispatch employee asked Zimmerman if he was following the 17-year-old, Zimmerman said yes. The dispatcher told Zimmerman he did not need to do that.

There is about a one-minute gap during which police say they're not sure what happened.

You are very mistaken in your understanding of the facts and what that entitles one to do and under what law/statute. Such a mistaken belief can get you into a world of trouble.

One may NOT reasonably believe that a person reaching into a pocket means anything entitling them to use deadly force or punch them out, much less straddle them and bash their head into a concrete sidewalk.

Think about it, a person reaches into their pocket and pulls out a cell phone and you blast them. Do you honestly believe that your mistaken belief that they were going for a gun will get you off? It won’t. You are going to jail. The same holds true for swinging on someone in the same circumstances. Your mistaken belief does not shield you from your bad actions.

This was clear cut self defense and SYG (stand your ground) does not even apply. The only reason that SYG is in the news is becasue the liberal media is using it to fool the gullible into accepting an agenda.

SYG simply means that lawful citizens no longer are placed at a disadvantage when protecting themselves from SBI (serious bodily injury) they no longer have to try to flee from those trying to harm them before they can defend themselves. It is an operation of law that allowed for the further victimization of a victim of a violent attack when they dared to defend themselves.

In this case, if SYG was not the law Zimmerman would have had to stay pinned on the ground (by the aggressor) getting his head bashed in becasue he could not flee first before attempting to defend himself from being beaten to death.

Here’s the thing, where is there evidence that Zimmerman continued to follow Martin?

I believe he was on his way back to his vehicle.

Having listened to the tape, even the enhanced version, I say it is entirely unclear what word Zimmerman used. It may have been “fools.”

Yep, several words have been profferred as potential for whatever was used.

Well LamaKing, your “book” does not count, unless you are selected as a juror.

With TMartin striking the first blow, regardless of any words spoken or actions taken by GZimmerman, it became self defense on GZimmerman’s part.

A sucker punch by TMartin makes a response by GZimmerman self-defense, in the eyes of the law.

“Deprive his civil rights in what way?”

Whatever way Eric Holder and his minions might construct.
In case you haven’t noticed, this is now a “political crime”.

Why do you think the Feds are looking at it? That is the only conceivable Fed charge that could possibly be laid.

“And if Martin was bashing Zimmerman’s head against the concrete which could have resulted in death do you think that Zimmerman had a right to defend his life with lethal force?”

Assuming that this is not a rhetorical question, of course he does.

If there was a fight, fists or otherwise, every time someone said some thing that offended someone else, the population of the USA would be greatly reduced.

Well, what I mean is that the Sharpton’s and Jackson’s of the world will never accept the truth. They will suspect that Zimmerman’s exoneration of wrong-doing is just more institutional racism.

I heard the recording on a video from Anderson cooper’s show, and either their audio expert doctored the tape or it says that.

I was extremely pro Zimmerman yesterday. Hearing the tape mademe more questioning about how this started.

I don’t know what “goon” would mean in his context. He may be able to use that In his defense.

That negates any self defense argument in my book.

How do you figure it negates self defense? The kid attacked him, since when is it ok to attack someone who was following you? Not only that Zimmerman had stopped following and was leaving the area. All the kid had to do was to go home and he would have been fine. However, he had to play outraged minority and attack Zimmerman. What do you suggest Zimmerman should have done after being knocked down and having his head slammed into the sidewalk plus having a fist slamming into his face(all corroborated by witnesses, BTW), lie there until he died so he could prove he was being attacked? The kid brought this on himself by following the black males "code" of not being "dissed". It is plain that he got angry and wanted to teach the cracker a lesson.

If you are in fear for your life, you don't follow someone and attack them.

The word “goon” has multiple meanings as I’m sure you know. It can go all the way from goofy to a mobster to a troublemaker or creep. I haven’t heard the entire audio although whenever it has been played, I have never heard the word either “goon” or “coon.” I’m not saying you didn’t hear it but that I didn’t. I don’t watch Anderson Cooper.

Catesby had a letter from the Pope himself forbidding rebellion ~ lest all the Catholics in England be killed.

The Gunpowder Plot conspirators, though, really didn't care.

I"d just guess they'd already consulted some Philadelphia lawyers about why they weren't really breaking any laws ~ not a one prohibited tunneling under Parliament, or bringing barrels into the precincts, nor even firing a firearm inside Parliament or on the grounds! Matches were a recent invention and much admired infact.

Well, so much for that defense, the charge was TREASON, and all of them but Catesby were eventually drawn and quartered, and presumably executed.

Guy Fawkes is the focus of a Bonfire celebration every year in UK.
