SAN FRANCISCO -- The Obama administration asked a federal appeals court Monday to speed up its review of a San Francisco gay-rights case and consider tough scrutiny for laws that discriminate based on sexual orientation - a standard that could legalize same-sex marriage.
The Justice Department made the unusual request to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, which is considering the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, the 1996 law that denies federal benefits to same-sex spouses.
U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White declared the law unconstitutional Feb. 22, calling it an irrational act of discrimination. He ordered the government to allow Karen Golinski, a federal court attorney in San Francisco, to enroll her wife in a federal family insurance plan. . . .

Local news (TV 4 WASHDC) this evening ‘managed’ to throw an extra story in this evening (other than “T and Z”) but it must be raising a dilemna as it was about a shooting a week ago in a IHOP (?) and it was a ‘Gay’ being shot at the restaurant.
Today they arrested a FEMALE in the shooting.
I will go ‘out on a limb’ and presume she was Black, but I have no hard proof of that.
Apparently the woman was with a group that was arguing with a group the man was in and she turned gangsta and put a cap in his arse - killing him.
Now I don’t know if the females in DC that are frequenting an IHOP ‘downtown’ are packing or was she ‘holding’ for her man?
However, it was first designated a ‘hate crime’, be interesting to see if it remains that way.
Is it really worth it? Gay kills. My gay brother died of AIDS 6 years ago. How come they never discuss these death statistic numbers?
The government wants a reduced population, thus pushes the deadly gay abomination. And abortions. This is not what God intended.

“Gay and bisexual men — referred to in CDC surveillance systems as men who have sex with men (MSM)1 — of all races continue to be the risk group most severely affected by HIV. CDC’s most recent data show that between 2006 and 2009, the number of new infections that occur each year increased among young MSM — driven by an alarming 48 percent increase among young, black MSM 13 to 29 years old. These data clearly show the urgent need to expand access to proven HIV prevention programs for gay and bisexual men, and to develop new approaches to fight HIV in this population.
A Snapshot
MSM account for nearly half of the approximately 1.2 million people living with HIV in the United States (49%, or an estimated 580,000 total persons).
MSM account for more than half of all new HIV infections in the United States each year (61%, or an estimated 29,300 infections).
While CDC estimates that only 4 percent of men in the United States are MSM, the rate of new HIV diagnoses among MSM in the United States is more than 44 times that of other men (range: 522 – 989 per 100,000 MSM vs. 12 per 100,000 other men).
According to the latest estimates, white MSM represent the largest number of new HIV infections (11,400) in the United States, followed closely by black MSM (10,800) and Hispanic MSM (6,000).
The primary ages at which MSM become infected differ by race:
• Young Black MSM: The majority of new infections among black MSM occur among young black MSM aged
13 to 29 (6,500). In fact, more new infections occur among young black MSM than white MSM aged 13 to 29 and 30 to 39 combined (6,400).
• White MSM: New infections among white MSM occur at roughly the same levels among all age groups (aged 13 – 29, 30 – 39, and 40 – 49), ranging from 3,200 to 3,400 in each group.
• Young Hispanic MSM: Among Hispanic MSM, most new infections occur in the youngest
(13 – 29) age group (2,700), though a substantial number of new HIV infections also occur among those aged 30 to 39 (2,000).
AIDS continues to claim the lives of too many MSM. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 286,000 MSM with AIDS have died.
By comparison, 4683 American soldiers died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In WW2, 291,957 soldiers died: slightly more than died from AIDS.
So why is the government pushing the Gay thing? Same reason as abortions?

Lecturer Jeffrey S. White has been nominated by President Bush to the federal bench. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, he will serve as a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
White has taught a course in civil trial advocacy at Boalt Hall for more than 20 years and has won the Roscoe Pound Foundation award for Excellence in Teaching Trial Advocacy. He is also a litigation partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in San Francisco.

Is it appropriate for the administration to ask a court to expedite review of a case?
In this case, we know Obama thinks the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitional, which is why he directed that the administration not defend the law.
Since he has a bias in the case in the first place, isn’t there something improper about him wanting the judges to hurry up and issue their ruling that agrees with Obama’s preconceived notion that the law defining marriage is illegal?

The destructive behavior you describe is not officially destructive, because it is performed by an officially politically correct aggrieved group.
Didn’t you get the memo? AIDS did not become an epidemic because of risky behaviors which spread the disease. AIDS became an epidemic because Ronald Reagan was slow to understand how serious the problem was, and did not move quickly enough to fight AIDS.
At least that’s the reasoning among some gay activists. Ronald Reagan was too slow to understand the problem, and too little and too late in getting research going to anti-AIDS drugs.
Here's their next move, force the Federal government to treat Same sex marriage the same as traditional marriage. This is much more pressing than birth control mandates that don't go into effect till 2014.
How did the 9th Circus end up with DOMA rather than, say, the DC Circuit? Talk about cherry-picking appeals courts!

My sons and I regularly talk on the phone about our about how the end times are near. I would rather be in heaven singing praises to Jesus than have to deal with our descent to Sodom. My sons and their families are prepared for what’s coming. The BIBLE warned of this, and that’s good enough for me, and my kids knew growing up that it HAD to be good enough for them.

There’s no compelling reason to expedite. Death is not involved, there’s no election hinging on the result (oops, maybe Obama thinks there is).
