An Army sergeant and father of three from Rhode Island who gave his life to save an Afghan child from being run over by a 16-ton armored fighting vehicle is being flown back to the U.S. and will be buried Monday.

Sgt. Dennis Weichel, 29, died in Afghanistan last week after he dashed into the path of an armored fighting vehicle to scoop up the little girl, who had darted back into the roadway to pick up shell casings, according to the Army. Weichel, a Rhode Island National Guardsman, was riding in the convoy in Laghman Province in eastern Afghanistan when he jumped out to save the girl, who was unhurt.

But will that little girl live a life of freedom and pay tribute to the life of Sgt. Weichel?

Let’s not pay attention to the fact that a raving Islamic lunatic of an Army Major shot up Fort Hood to the tune of 13 dead, 29 wounded. He’s STILL not been to trial.

Our guy kills a bunch of ‘civilians’, and they want to execute him by the end of the month.

Now this. You think we’ll get so much as ‘thank you’ out of this?

I hate to be crass, but . . .

The press, of course, will utterly ignore this and countless other acts of seflless heroism on the part of our great fighting men in favor of publishing stories about shooting civilians.

All of theirs are not worth one of ours. Poor judgement.

Prayers up for the Sgt. Dennis Weichel and his loved ones. In this world, true valor has all but vanished. The Sgt. restored my faith that it still exists, however rare.

God bless Sgt. Weichel and God bless our troops.

As they’ve done throughout the past 52+ years, here in America.

We can ask God that she makes something positive out of her life, that was saved by this soldier.

And Karzai heaped lavish praise on our soldier for his heroic act. Oh, wait... that didn’t happen.

Now his three children are left without their father which is negligent on his part. He took a risk and half succeeded and at least saved the Afghan girl who will 95% likely grow up in a burqa anyway. God will judge his sacrifice better than I can

No. She'll be banned from school, clad in a burka and indoctrinated to think anything Sgt Weichel did for her was only Allah's will. She will also be told to believe the infidels destroyed her country, have tails and copulate with pigs.
