Rep. Paul Ryan endorses Mitt Romney
The Hill ^ | March 30, 2012 | Justin Sink

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) is expected to endorse Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney before Wisconsin's GOP primary next Tuesday, according to media reports.

Ryan would be the latest in a string of high-profile endorsements for Romney this week, as party leaders have increasingly coalesced around the former Massachusetts governor's campaign. The Wisconsin lawmaker would join popular freshman Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and former president George H. W. Bush in signaling support for Romney this week.

It’s our failure. We have allowed the party hierarchy to determine our candidates. It’s unfortunate that we probably can’t change that now, but if we survive a crushing defeat by Obama and the ensuing dictatorship, we need to demand that our voices be heard, or else bolt from the liberal Republican party and start a new conservative party.

We’re still out here, tbf. and this primary season better mobilize us like nothing this country has ever seen.

If not, the Tea Party will only be someone that I used to know.

I think the GOPe set this up early on now we’re left hanging.

You are absolutely right, Kenny. In the tankers: The Washington establishment, the RNC, Ann Coulter, Paul Ryan, the Bush dynasty, Marco Rubio, the GOP legislature, Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, Matt Drudge, Dick Morris, Conservative Senate fund, Clear Channel, Comcast, the Mormon church...just to name a few supporters of the Bishop Willard.
Does anyone want to add to this list?

I had “Ryan-Abbott 2012” for my tagline for a while and FReepers were pinging me with “Who?” Everyone would be saying the same thing about Dirk Kemthorne. Hell, I had to look him up to see who he is.

Ashcroft is MSM-damaged, same as Jindal, although to a far lesser extent.

I've always liked Haley Barbour. That “aw shucks” act covers up that he's a grade A political animal. But he would be portrayed as “Boss Hogg” if he ran. Plus he f**ked up at the end of his term as Gov. with those pardons.

Scott Walker would be an EXCELLENT choice, BTW!!!

So many Tea Party groups have endorsed romney, that is what I don't understand. I mean, how does that happen? That's what concerns me.

From the guys who brought you the 2008 loss and disaster, bringing us the Undocumented Kenyan islamic Appeaser, the GOP Establishment.

Prepare for their perplexed looks on November 5, “wondering what went wrong” when the numbers come in.

I don't know if I agree with that, only in I think the establishment knows what they are doing, and are getting exactly what they want. I think their perplexed looks will be well rehearsed, for the sake of the rabble. Oh, sigh, oh, sigh, oh, sigh...

AMEN!! Voting for Romney will not produce any change at all. For the most part this country is already past the saving point.
Many of us have supported the GOP but they have not produced for us and have been a continual disappointment.
As an example, what happened to all the Tea Party types we sent to D.C. in 2010 to make a stand in the House to stop Obama. Well that fizzled rather quickly didn't it. Instead of drawing the line in the sand on the Debt Ceiling and Deficit all of them bascially rolled over with Speaker Boehner leading the charge.
Nothing under Romney would change, it's just wishful thinking at best.
Now if we could get the House and Senate with a little leadership the train could be slowed down.
Obama will divide this country racially going into the election and I think will win.
We have no viable candidate offering a clear cut choice to voters.
I also predict a lot of Conservatives will either sit home or vote for one of the minor parties as a protest.

Seems to me, Sarah Palin or another tea party candidate could do us a good service by running for president on a third-party ticket in 2012. I take it as a given that Romney’s nomination would lead a good number of conservatives to stay at home in November, and that he’s a sure loser against 0bama. If a lot of conservatives do stay at home, it will mean not only a second term for 0bama, but a Democrat Senate and Nancy Pelosi back in the Speaker’s chair.

If Palin or another conservative with populist appeal ran on a third-party ticket with Romney the Republican nominee, it would at least ensure that conservatives came out to vote, and prevent Democrats from taking the House.

>> Is there anyone who can explain to me what the heck is going on? I don’t get this at all...

Nobody’s interested in Newt, and Santorum is likely perceived as a polarizing ignoramus.

I will vote against the worst form of Marxism in November.

Without a brokered convention, the GOP choices are not only unacceptable, but frightening.

...we really need a center / left nominee to compete for the Democrat votes.

...They understand it is more important to keep your own base than to try and convince the other side that you are really one of them.

Sounds like conflicted reasoning.

Anyway...

Santorum got Dem votes to win PA, against Dem incumbents. 3 Times. He campaigns outside the box.

Romney cannot “outspend” Obama. And Romney is not enough of a leader to defeat the Obama Fascist machine.

Romney is a loser. We need a far better candidate, and lets go to the brokered convention.

The little privileged RINOs can all jack each other up, but the fact is, they are not at all equipped to contest the Obama Alinsky fascist electoral machine, and are already being over run by them.Hell the RINOs do not even understanmd who Obama is.

Well conservatives do understand who Obama is, and we need a proper leader to do battle and win, not some wimp who things corporate experience is a winner. We are involved in a social war that majority America cannot lose, and RINOs cannot even acknowledge the truth of that?

Then how in old EFF can they beat Obama?

I thought that every freerepublic user would know about Kemthorne, since he’s been a U.S. senator, governor, and cabinet member.

Scott Walker doesn’t have enough political experience, since he’s only been a governor for 14 months. Another good candidate would be Judd Gregg.

I don’t know whom I like more, Romney or Santorum. I agree with Santourm, more often. Romney is more likely to win the general election, since he’s been a governor, like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Santorum has been and congressman and senator, like Bob Dole & John McCain, two losers.

Sure, I've heard the name, but still had to look him up to see the specifics. He's certainly accomplished.

Why not Kempthorne? He's won at every level and looks like a real conservative.

I posted years ago that the GOP should be looking at Lt. Gov’s, state AG’s, various state Senate and House leaders, etc. for POTUS/VPOTUS candidates. Like I said earlier, I proposed a Paul Ryan-Greg Abbott ticket ~3 years ago. That ticket would kick serious ass IMO.

Two of the last three republican presidents (Ronald Reagan & George W. Bush) were governors. I hoped that our next president would be someone who has been a governor and has also held a higher office. Four of the last five GOP VP’s were U.S. reps. those four were Dick Cheney, Dan Quayle, George H.W. Bush, and Gerald Ford. The exception is Nelson Rockefeller.

AGREE!

I have nothing but respect for people who are still looking for someone besides Romney.

I have nothing but contempt for people who won't vote for Romney should he become the nominee. 4 years of Obama, an Obama who doesn't have to worry about reelection, will create chaos and catastrophe on a national, and a global, scale.

Suck it up, get Obama out and focus on Congress and local elections for Tea Party politicians.

I hope that all swing-state voters, who dislike Obama, will vote for the republican nominee. If conservatives live in states in which Obama or the Republican will obviously win, I think that many of those conservatives should vote for a candidate who usually agrees with them. Obama will easily win your state, California. If I lived there (which I did for 14 years), I’d vote for the American Independent Party candidate. If I thought that the race would be close, in my state, I’d vote for the Republican, since I wouldn’t want to help split the anti-Obama vote, helping Obama win my state, with about 49% of the popular vote. I live in Illinois. It’s a swing state, so I’ll vote for the Republican.
