Not-So-Smooth Operator
The Wall Street Journal ^ | March 29, 2012 | Peggy Noonan

Not-So-Smooth Operator
Obama increasingly comes across as devious and dishonest.

Something's happening to President Obama's relationship with those who are inclined not to like his policies. They are now inclined not to like him. His supporters would say, "Nothing new there," but actually I think there is. I'm referring to the broad, stable, nonradical, non-birther right. Among them the level of dislike for the president has ratcheted up sharply the past few months.

It's not due to the election, and it's not because the Republican candidates are so compelling and making such brilliant cases against him. That, actually, isn't happening.

What is happening is that the president is coming across more and more as a trimmer, as an operator who's not operating in good faith. This is hardening positions and leading to increased political bitterness. And it's his fault, too. As an increase in polarization is a bad thing, it's a big fault.

He’ll always be Mickey from the Rocky flicks to me.

I also remember him as the Penguin on the old Batman show (TVLAND). In one episode he ran for Mayor of Gotham City, lost badly to Batman (Batman then got calls from both parties offering him the 1968 Presidential nomination).

The Pengiun, ideal running mate for Romney? Danny DeVito’s Penguin I mean, imagine Biden getting run over by a giant rubber ducky.

All the books written about the creation of economic policy within his administration make clear the president and his aides didn't know it was so bad, didn't understand the depth of the crisis, didn't have a sense of how long it would last.

I read at least one essay that said it was no less than Geithner that warned Obama that this recession was the worst since the Great Depression, but since he wanted to transform America, he was determined to push for Obamacare. I believe it was in The New Republic.

The Great Depression, like now, was a financial and credit crisis based on bad loans.

“Americans do not reelect losers.”

I wish.

Unfortunately, close to half of American voters passionately support the European Socialist political model.

Add in our low speed economic recovery and the unwavering support of the MSM, and Obama can easily be reelected.

Re post 10. You are so right.

90% of Freepers, and Rush and Sean listeners KNEW what this guy was all about in 2008. It was easy to see through him. Peggy and her ilk had no clue. They all jumped on the Obama bandwagon

In 2008 he was a marxist who hung out with violent revolutionaries. He was a moslem with no experience and a dubious academic record. We knew it. Nothing has changed.

.....she’s trying to get in tune with the direction of the winds.......

I would argue that the woman who wrote the great Regan speech about the boys of Pointe Du Hoc has been blown and buffeted by the wind of truth. Her change is not necessarily purposeful or deceitful so much as it is forced by the wind.

That is the thrust of the piece. The winds of change are producing a change of view in many.

Well, I gotta give the Kenyan credit, I didn’t take all that messiah stuff seriously but he really has turned out to be a miracle worker seeing as how he has made me think maybe Bill Clinton wasn’t such a bad president after all. I didn’t think anybody could do that!

Seriously speaking I still think Clinton was and still is disgusting but compared to Obama he was one of the greats. I can imagine one thing that would probably be worse than Obama in the white house and no, I don’t mean Joe Biden, I mean president Pelosi! That woman is a demon escaped from an asylum in hell. I have seen more than one person stand up and sing a solo in church and wondered who told that person he could sing but when Nancy Pelosi speaks I wonder how someone so utterly devoid of sense can actually form words.

Ah yes, The Penguin - funny, campy stuff!

“The Pengiun, ideal running mate for Romney? Danny DeVito’s Penguin I mean, imagine Biden getting run over by a giant rubber ducky.”

Although DeVito’s a lefty IRL, I like your idea. I also like the idea of DeVito as Frank Reynolds debating Biden. Think of the hilarity!

My uncle has a saying: “It takes 50 ‘atta boys’ to make up for one ‘oh sh*t’.”

Noonan can't come up with enough “atta boys” to atone for the mammoth “oh sh*ts” she's pulled, former Reagan speechwriter or not.

She screwed herself with her lust for Soetoro in 2008.

Welcome to the party, Noonan. I still don’t trust you. You people fouled it up to begin with by giving him a Lewinsky in 08 with your coverage. We saw it from the start.

Thank you, Former Proud Canadian.

Anyone that had any sense knew what Obama was(n’t). Like you said, they (MSM) all jumped on the Obama bandwagon.

This hag-bag Noonan ignored the truth and helped foist the Marxist on us and the world. Now she wants to come back to reality? No way Peggy. You f**ked up, now you stay and rot in the stench of the failure your idol proved himself to be.

Treason is what I call what happened with peggy and her limo-liberal “smart” pals as they participated in hiding the background and truth about their dear reader. She’s old but not wise and she went out with a bang.

Noonan is a great wordsmith. When given the meat of an idea she can do wonders; it’s when she actually has to come up with the ideas that she runs into trouble. Critical thinking is not one of her strong suits.

Whoopie do, Noonan can state the obvious.

She ordered knee pads when Barry was running and probably passed out with joy when he won. Why should anyone believe anything she says about running against the guy? She's just another one of the "Conservatives" who have been in the Vichy wing of the party all along and don't mind the Nazi democrat party always being the majority just as long the Nazis invite them to parties and make nice now and then.

Noonan was madly in love with King Barry, and like Coulter she's betrayed everything she claimed she believed in. Noonan is turncoat trash no matter how well she can state the obvious
