“No coal plants here in America” - Joe Biden 2008

Ole Cecil must not be the sharpest tool in the mine if he’s just now figuring out that the 0bama Regime all along has only wanted to eliminate the entire coal industry. Geez Cec’, wake up!

I’ve got no sympathy for them. I’m sure 70% of their members took their union marching orders and voted for Obama. They deserve what they get. Unfortunately, the whole country will suffer.

What Robert’s is really saying is that it will be the death of UMWA. They only represent around 10% of coal miner’s. Yes the EPA is hammering the industry and the fallout is some UMW mines are being shut down. Consol’s Buchanan mine shut down their longwall, Patriot has shuttered several represented mines. These are high quality Met mines that no one would have dreamed two years ago that they would be gone.

Currently companies can’t give thermal coal away. With the added regulations we are going to see more mines go away. Just the one regulation of proximity detection on continous miners costs ~ $70 thousand per miner. All CM’s are required to have this within 3 years and they will pass a law requiring all underground equipment fitted with this technology. If a company has 100 continous miners they have around 300 shuttle cars, 4 scoops per section, 100 bolters etc. Do the math. New reg’s on rescue chambers is coming out and will cost around $80 thousand per chamber. Companies like Alpha probably have around 200-250 rescue chambers. Smaller companies are going to get wiped out.

While the United Mine Workers of America likely won’t actively oppose President Obama’s reelection bid, Roberts said the new EPA regulation could prevent the union from endorsing the president.

“That’s something that we have not done yet and may not do because of this very reason. Our people’s jobs are on the line,” Roberts said, adding that Obama has “done a lot of great things for the country.”

This is why private sector unions are also going the way of OBL. The United Mine Workers actively endorsed the current occupant of the W.H., as did the IBEW. I remember like it was yesterday all the officers in my local urging us to go to the polls, bring others to the polls and get 0bama elected. All I could think at the time was , "They actually want me to support someone who vows to stop building coal plants in this country.", which is the union's bread and butter. Fast forward to today, 4 years later and 'The Won's' policies have destroyed the economy, the coal industry is becoming extinct and this UMW president says ,"Obama has “done a lot of great things for the country.”. NAME ONE!!!! The in-lieu president has destroyed your industry and you won't go as far as not supporting him????? How is that representing the rank and file?

Even though I'm an IBEW member (because I have to be) and I'm affected, I find it hard to muster any sympathy for the unions.

They blindly followed the POS even though he told them he would bankrupt their coal industry in 2008.

Here he is on VIDEO!

Their just talking this way alone shows there is trouble in the UMW ranks. They know the men aren’t stupid. They know their membership won’t vote lockstep for a guy who is killing them. This is a good thing.

Osama bin Laden lived in that enclosed compound for five years with three wives and never leaving the compound. It is thought that maybe he called the Navy Seals.

I feel a certain shadenfreude until I remember that it’s not only the UMW that’s going to be sufferering.
