AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND (CBS) Catalina Island is known for many things its picturesque scenery, seafood and hiking, to name a few. But what about high gas prices?
For the past two weeks, gas prices on Catalina Island have been an average of $7 a gallon.
Stacy Dizon, who works at the Santa Catalina Island Co.-owned gas station on Pebbly Road, tells CBSLA that a gallon of regular unleaded on Saturday is $7.03.
(credit: Ivan Hernandez/Avalon Marine Dock) The gas station is one of two service stations catering to the island and nearby, Avalon.
About 1.5 miles away, Ivan Hernandez at the city-owned Avalon Marine Dock says the price of regular unleaded is $6.90 a gallon, down 10 cents from Friday.
While some residents may be feeling the pinch, many arent complaining.
Theres not a lot to complain about when were living on an island, said Catherine Rogers, a server at Original Jacks Country Kitchen.
Rogers has lived in Avalon for 33 years and tells CBSLA that she doesnt hear a lot of complaints about gas prices since many residents walk and those who drive use golf carts to get around, many of which are electric.
On average, Rogers says, those who drive golf carts fill up about once a month.

It is like a million bucks a throw for a house there — it is a tiny island where most people drive golf carts or just bicycle.
It is 2 Harbors that probably has the biggest problem from this.
What part of Hope-N-Change was the $7 gas?
Be SURE to thank every Democrat you see for the high gas prices.
They have worked SO HARD, for years, to make this happen.
Now let me guess...electricity there is $0.90/kWh thanks to clean air regulations.
We summered there growing up its a fun place to visit but id hate to live there bunch of druggies alcoholics and illegal aliens

Island economies are strange that way, especially in uber-liberal SoCal.
I’ve been there. Everyone is stoned & drives a golf cart.
They’re the type of people who couldn’t give a rip about us working stiffs.
Make your own way in this world or lie down and die!!!
I do make my own way. I’ve got an education & six-figure salary. My ex left my daughter & I when she was 18 months old so he could live the single life. Trust me, I work my ass off...which is fine. I could neve settle for title of “welfare queen”. Blech!!!
What happens in California is a warning...it could happen EVEN in Puckerbrush, USA.
What starts on the fringes of the lunatic, left coast slowly slithers across the whole country slimming everything in its path.
You da man!!!
Guess you weren't around yesterday.
I’ll bet most are Hollywood libs that will vote for Obama anyway.
Cry me a river! These folks are getting what they voted for!
