Two sources told WFTV on Monday that gunman George Zimmerman could be arrested this week, and that a Grand Jury will not meet on Tuesday.
Zimmerman has been in hiding because of threats, after he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. He claims he shot Martin in self-defense.
Jacksonville State Attorney Angela Corey has the sole authority to determine whether Zimmerman will be charged for killing Martin.
Governor Rick Scott put Corey in charge of the case late last month amid concerns that State Attorney Norm Wolflinger wouldn't do a thorough and fair investigation.
"You've got to make sure justice prevails. I'm comfortable that the State Attorney Angela Corey will make that happen," Scott said.
In Florida, first-degree murder cases must be heard by a Grand Jury, which means Corey can only charge Zimmerman with third-degree murder, second-degree or manslaughter.
However, because Zimmerman fired his gun and Martin died, which means Zimmerman could still face life in prison without parole, WFTV found out.
Natalie Jackson is one of the attorneys representing Martin's family and told WFTV she wasn't surprised by Corey's decision.
"We believe justice dictates that he will be charged," said Jackson. "If justice and the procedures were followed, then yes, all of this could've been avoided."

All Zimmerman has to do is make sure he gets some Whites and Hispanics on the jury then he get a hung jury if it makes it to trial. Also he can exclude anyone that watched CNN, MSNBC or any other media outlet because they could be perceived as tainted. The Prosecutor's only hope is to negotiate some BS charge against Zimmerman for something like Wreckless Endangerment and then he gets a year.
The jury selection will be done very, very carefully and if there are any jurors who might think about voting not guilty, it will be made very clear that they and their families will never be able to walk the streets without security for the rest of their lives. I don't think that a free and fair trial is possible with the race baiters running the country.
Manslaughter. Conviction. Bank on it.
There is zero evidence to even charge him...but now Zimmerman gets to play PC Roulette. He’s going to lose.
Unfortunately I agree. Zimmerman will be convicted out of fear.
You can indict a ham sandwich. If a grand jury won’t indict him, what’s the chance of getting a conviction?
All of the witnesses that suggest Martin was screaming, etc. didn't and couldn't see anything. Hardly the sort of basis one would want to have as a "star witness" for the prosecution!
The foresnic evidence favors Zimmerman's account, too.
Z is not going to get an All Star Defense team.
White males will be excluded from the jury...
Just watch and see him go to prison.
There will be no blind justice for Zimmerman.
And we will appoint as many prosecutors as necessary until we get one that will quell the storm.

Excellent point! It’s far easier to - almost as if by magic - suddenly find witnesses who will swear that Mr. Zimmerman was chasing down minorities with his motorcycle gang while alternately wearing replica Nazi helmets or KKK hoods.
This should be mere child’s play for so great a civil rights guru as the Rev. Al “Skillets” Sharpton; he apparently has a great deal of experience in such matters, and no matter what eventually unfolds or is exposed, will suffer precious little damage to either his reputation or livelihood.
So why not go for it, right?

I'm hearing back-channel chatter that if Zimmerman is charged, it is THE GO SIGNAL. The 2nd Civil War will go hot.

I don’t think so. I think she just dislikes guys who murder two year olds.
I’ve seen a couple of other articles since posting, and it looks like she has a reputation as a tough Republican.
So, maybe there’s some hope that justice will be done, and not just kneejerk political correctness.
The only open question here is did Zimmerman disregard a lawful order from the 911 operator or disturb the peace by continuing to follow Trayvon after he was instructed not to.
