I just heard on Fox News that Rick Santorum is suspending his race for President. He will be giving a news conference

The republic is better served by reluctantly accepting an outside chance to elect a trainable RINO than in conceding defeat to a hard core Marxist.

I was down in DC standing in front of the WH last Wednesday. I had a vision of unfurling a huge banner and hanging it on the fence:

"Better a Mormon than a Muslim"

Try reading this little article. Not that you trust anything on MSNBC but the comments on "suspending" are from a top Republican Campaign Attorney.

He says its a political "distinction" and is NOT legal. It gives wiggle room to get back in. In other words NOT ENTIRELY TRUTHFUL! It's clear continuing to solicit funds would be a technical status with the FEC but has nothing to do with whether they publicly say the are out of the race or not.

Before Reagan and Newt came along the Repugs were a permanent minority party and liked it that way. They shouted down conservative “extremists” and loved their socialist, politically correct pals at the DNC. They were very happy with this arrangment for forty years. They really don’t care if they have the Presidency as long as they had the Senate to tweak the socialist proposals and the globalist transfer of power.

Newt and Reagan ruined it all and brought in the power and agenda of the riff raff which made them angry. Many of them retired in a tizzy. The unwashed American-Americans had arrivved!

"Anyway he is out and we MUST get behind Mitt! LOL. I an actively working on getting all Conservatives I know to NOT vote for mitt, but do a write-in. We can still vote down the ticket for Conservatives. Mitt and his staff and MOST of his supporters loathe Conservatives. Any Conservative that votes for Mitt will betray our Constitution. Mitt would do absolutely nothing to turn our Republic towards Liberty. I will pray every day that Mitt will somehow be denied the nomination. "

No offense but you are waisting your much needed time and effort. Mitt will be the nominee baring unlikely unforseen circumstances. We will have a choice of Obama or Romney. I say we get behind Mitt and "suspend" Obamas presidency!

Blame the half-dozen conservatives who decided to run against the one moderate.

And we are somehow shocked the moderate wins the nomination?

They did this in Kansas for a long time, and guess what....the conservatives lost. Same thing here.

Disgusting, but not exactly a shocking outcome. One person gets a lot more votes than five or six splitting the vote, and all that in-fighting led to no cohesive conservative candidate.

Sad.

Santorum is only ‘suspending’ his campaign so he can continue to raise funds to clear as much of his debt as possible.

I think this may very well destroy FR, and I fear what will happen over the next few months.

As for our nation, there goes the conservative SCOTUS, and any chance of getting it finally fully five votes conservative, not swing vote conservative-leaning.

Damn.

Good one.

But if you did that, you'd have the ROPers and the fundies both wanting to lynch you.

OK...I was wrong (if MSNBC is to be believed) about the “legal” status. Nevertheless, there are elements of his campaign still active in soliciting funds, and Rick remains on the ballot in any number of remaining states. He’s not actively campaigning, but nor has he shut down his operation completely, and will no doubt, still receive at least a small number of votes (just like Bachmann and Perry have been getting). Not sure why you think “suspended” is such a poor description when it has not in fact, been “ended” or “terminated”.

If you can't do a write-in on the Mail-In Ballots, go to the poll and vote in person."

We don't have a poll to go to. A few years back it was determined by our Secretary of State, Sam Reed, that we can do ALL Mail IN BALLOTS. I miss going to the polls. Plus this year our Governor GAGrior said we would not have a preliminary as she bankrupted us so the state couldn't afford Primaries.. We had to have a Caucus. Most people didn't understand how a caucus works.

Sounds like the State will be Democrat for a LONG time, with no polling places, mail-in fraud being one of the biggest ways to steal elections. Voter Photo ID would go a LONG way in your state, to get it back into the hands of The People, and out of the hands of The Unions, and The Progressives.

I hope you weren’t directing your rant to me personally. I am a Gingrich supporter.

He served his purpose to stop gingrich and ensure Romney.

Yep. He still has to pay the piper for his lies about Newt. And the damage to our country that has occurred because of it. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes/family. What you sow you reap - he should know that but his glory was more important than the Glory of God. Mitt's cult allows him to lie, he has no moral worth at all.

Yes, Montana and Idaho seem like a couple of good options. I like both states.

I live in rural county, in the sticks, on a mountain and about 3 1/2 hours from any large city. Here, they would not like the reception they would receive.

Good luck....

Was hoping he’d stick it out through a Pennsylvannia win and string of victories in the south, just to show the GOP establishment that the real conservatives in the party aren’t buying what they’re selling.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out there was a deal cut.

No doubt about it with the one who 'does it for the team'/GOP E.

I didn’t like Santorum (I thought he was a self-serving hypocrite) but I doubt that he would have been the candidate anyway. He got the votes of the social conservatives after he emerged as the Elmer Gantry...er, I mean, godly man...for that group. But he was as big government and opportunistic as either Romney or Obama, and a simple look at his past which the good people of PA knew abundantly will prove that.

However, the Southern/Midwestern socons voted for Huckabee in the last election’s primaries, and they kept Santorum going by voting for him in this one. But as a group they have never elected anybody in their lives, with the possible exception of Carter. I remember when all the churches in my area - I was living in Ohio at that time - were praising the Lord for the election of this “godly” man. That lasted about six months because he was so inept.

Social conservatism is essential, but it’s got to be coupled with knowledge of other spheres (economics, international politics, the law and the Constitution) in order to produce a credible candidate with any extension beyond your local congregation.

Maybe now that Santorum is gone, Gingrich (the only true fiscal, legal and social conservative) will be able to take on Romney and Obama. The press has been ignoring him because he makes a good impression when people see him, but I don’t think they’ll be able to do that now.

Who are they going to focus on, Ron Paul???
