Mark Levin on Santorum’s exit: ‘The Republican establishment got its way’
Daily Caller\ ^ | 4-12-12 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 04/12/2012 8:25:54 PM PDT by Mozilla

On his Tuesday radio show, conservative talker Mark Levin, author of “Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America,” reacted to former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum effectively ending his campaign with an announcement in Gettysburg, Pa., calling for his listeners to be “realists.” Levin had been an outspoken critic of Mitt Romney, but conceded that Romney’s likely nomination was a win for the so-called Republican establishment.

“Well the Republican establishment got its way,” Levin said. “The Republican establishment has won yet again. Some of you are very upset about it. Some of you are self-delusional — not many. Some of you are thinking, ‘Well, what you mean? This is conservatism.’ No it’s not. Just because you’re not Obama doesn’t mean you’re a conservative or a constitutionalist.”

Dr. Keyes is one of the most brilliant analysts around today

Perhaps, but he is one of the single worst career candidates in American history. The guy gets blown out in every election he runs. I think he possesses some kind of anti-charismatic curse that actually manages to alienate the very voters he is trying to reach. Keyes should stick to being a commentator and never run for anything, ever again.

Yes, and he also said "we conservatives" have to work together and pull out a win for Mitt Romney - those words coming out of the mouth of Mark Levin... nothing makes sense anymore..

Levin is a pragmatist. He believes in supporting the most conservative nominee that can win, but once the nominee is chosen (even if it is a RINO) he will support that candidate in an effort to defeat the greater Democrat evil. Levin often says that at the end of the day, he will support an orange juice can over Hussein.

As for Newt, he said Newt was mentally "losing it" and nobody needs to follow him as he ping pongs around. It was quite devastating to hear...

Yeah, he seemed pretty harsh. I get the feeling Levin was really kind of supporting Santorum and blames Newt for staying the race and conservative from coalescing behind Rick.

To be fair to Levin though, Newt is out of money and it really is pretty clear he can't stop Romney. I know it is hard to accept, but Willard is going to be the nominee and Levin is right to not lie to his audience about it.

Mitt is “anybody but Obama” and that is enough reason to support him.

No...Mitt should not get anyones vote..Newt’s still in the race and people have greatly underestimated how Newt plays his hand. The Primary isn’t over but everyone has the choice if their going to yield to Obamas piped pipers or stand til this is finished.

The media is known and admitts it will close up shop on an election just to discourage people from supporting a candidate or vote period.

So choose if you will to keep the only conservative left the opportunity we have of really defeating Obam...or the candidate who will hand Obama the election.

I have a lot of respect for Levin (although I don’t let anyone shape my views).

He was a Santorum supporter.

On a broadcast a couple of weeks ago, he gently chastised an unknown candidate for not being able to deflect the media in an effective way. Not his style at all.

I really wanted to call in and remind him that we have a candidate that excels at deflecting the media. I don’t know why he is so anti-Gringrich.

Hey tbf, good work— Here’s another tidbit, just in case you missed it [unlikely -:)]

Spotted at Winston’s Grille in Raleigh having dinner Monday with presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was Raleigh businessman Art Pope.

Pope, a major GOP contributor, confirmed he had dinner with Gingrich, but said it doesn’t mean he was backing the former House speaker.

“I am not endorsing,” Pope said. “I am staying neutral in the presidential primary.”

Pope declined to discuss the specifics of the conversation, other than to say there was general talk about the convention platform and the direction of the party in the fall. Gingrich and Pope were part of a small group that included businessman Bob Luddy, and attorney Tom Farr.

Thanks, but no thanks. All I can say it is a good thing Levin et al were not on the banks of the Delaware on Christmas night, they'd be running to and fro telling the First Patriots they needed to be realists, and was King George really that bad? Forget the boats, did you see those ice floes, a lot of us don't even have shoes. It's Christmas, guys... it's freezing. Let's get some sleep... some nice hot rum.

What is wrong with all the so-called conservatives, including Levin, but all the others, also, they have no idea what it takes to give birth to or sustain Liberty. The raw risk and danger and impossible odds. The gut wrenching terror of going up against the entrenched powers that be...

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll pass on the realist stuff for now...

As far Keyes, he is the ultimate political loser. Runs for something almost every cycle and gets utterly destroyed. He is about the last person you'd want to get any political commentary from. The man couldn't get elected dog catcher even if his opponent were an illegal alien who ate live babies on TV.

So I think what you are saying is that honest truth tellers are not political winners. Yep, I agree. I guess that's why I won't be voting for Romney for President because apparently, he is a political winner.

Dr. Savage is an independent conservative who says things even a lot of other conservatives are afraid to say. Read his books. He’s definitely one of us

I started to read his book The Savage Nation (Nashville, Tenn.: Nelson, 2002) until I read, "[Gerhard Fritz Kurt Schröder] is thought to be the architect of NATO's bombing of Yugoslavia to fulfill a German aim of a Baltic seaport" (p.63). At that point, I stopped reading and took the book back to the library.

I don't know what "Dr. Savage" has his doctor's degree in--perhaps dementia--but it sure as hell isn't geography.

I’ve been through the Reagan wars and have been told that some of my stuff might be in the Reagan library and I’ve had success with candidates I’ve handled.

To back Gingrich and I like him but he doesn’t even come close and didn’t carry where he should have is a waste of time unfortunately, and most importantly he didn’t step up to the plate and bring up Eugenics...like Santorum did

The only outlet I see where conservatives can make any noise is to have Santorum take Pennsylvainia. He’s got some organization there The turnout for Romney is going to be depressed because Romney is not going to be throwing tons of money against Rick because he’s suspended operations.

If Santorum withdrew there might be questions but any vote he gets must be counted and most importantly any of his delegates get a carrying vote even though they are not committed as they are an other states pledged to cast their first vote for him carry the district they probably would . But if those living in Penn’s woods swing it ....that’s a needed kick in the dupa.... http://www.theusmat.com
