Sarah Palin Hits Back At Roger Ailes’ Remark That She ‘Had No Chance To Be President’ (Updated)
Mediaite ^ | 4-13-12 | Meenal Vamburkar

Posted on 04/15/2012 3:05:31 PM PDT by STARWISE

Ahead of her Fox News special Paying at the Pump, Sarah Palin gave an interview to Breitbart.com. Discussing various aspects of energy policies, Palin’s final question was about the network’s boss Roger Ailes — and her response wasn’t exactly glowing.

The question was: “Governor, many people were disappointed that you decided not to run for president this year, but are still hoping that you might one day run for the White House in the future.

Roger Ailes was recently quoted as saying, ‘Sarah Palin had no chance to be President.’ What do you make of that?”

“Interesting,” Palin said, before continuing on to say:

I haven’t heard all of his remarks, but I wonder if he is aware that the same thing was said about me when I ran for city council, mayor, and eventually governor. No doubt many people who are told they can’t do something will work that much harder, and they succeed.

Maybe you guys should send him a copy of Steve Bannon’s The Undefeated. The theme of Steve’s film isn’t about me, but about the idea of not letting others dictate one’s path in life and never giving up when you’re fighting for something precious like our exceptional nation and our children’s futures. So, would you send a copy of The Undefeated to him?

You’ll recall that last year Ailes made some headlines following a New York magazine profile. The piece quoted a Republican source close to Ailes as saying:

“Roger is worried about the future of the country. He thinks the election of Obama is a disaster. He thinks Palin is an idiot. He thinks she’s stupid. He helped boost her up. People like Sarah Palin haven’t elevated the conservative movement.”

UPDATE: Mediaite reached out to Roger Ailes and he further clarified his remarks from last night’s UNC event in context::

He said, “When I hired most of the Republican contributors, none of them had any immediate prospects of becoming President —I wasn’t referring to any of their long-term prospects, including Governor Palin. I hired all of them because they made for good television at the time. Sarah Palin is young and nobody can predict the future.”

I still have visions of seeing Palin come down the aisle of the convention, and hearing the crowd cheer; “Palin, Palin, Palin”. One never knows what could occur. It won’t happen, the MSM will see to that.

but Santorum is garbage. He is fake to his core.

And this is how we get Romney. Rick isn't running and you still feel compiled to make these disgusting remarks.

Well I would wish you luck with voting for Sarah but you better just accept that it will need to be a wasted, helping Obama, write-in vote because her name is not going to be found on the ballot anywhere.

I supported Newt and Perry but both have almost zero chance of being the nominee and a slim but still possible chance of being on the ticket. So, I will vote for Romney over Obama without hesitation.

Sarah scares me? I will take that as you are kidding but just in case, the answer is no. What I do find scary is the number of Palin worshipers that think they are conservative. The first sign of a true conservative is COMMON SENSE and you either have none or have totally abandoned what you had. People that still believe Sarah Palin is going to be the nominee are right up there with people that believe in a mother ship that's following behind a comet.

Hi precisionshootist. I realize that I am not as smart as those of you in the camp of romney elitists but I am smart enough to sniff out shills for romney. I could be mistaking but you've obviously missed Jim Robinson's admonition to you romney operatives when he posted "We will not waste our limited resources on FR in support for a liberal progressive LIAR"

Feel free to follow the link and read his comments as well as the thread that followed. Maybe then you will discover that you're not on a romney friendly forum. I can't speak for most on FR as I am a "newbie" as one or two self-righteous, sophomoric asses have pointed out but judging by the vast majority of anti-romney posts on this forum I'd say it's probably a safe bet that most of us do NOT believe romney to possess one single conservative bone in his invertebrate body.
Liberal slugs are like that you know?! They're spineless. Worms if you will. I for one am one conservative that's tired of having a rino leadership picking who I will be voting for. If romney wins the nomination I will not cast my vote for him. I will however be more than happy to go to the polls to support Ted Cruz and all "Conservative" "Tea Party" candidates running for the House and Senate to represent my area.

My opinion is we do not need another four years of obomba; having either obomba or romney (they're one and the same in spirit) in the White House is the end of America. We cannot afford that.

Let me guess... Romney in 2012 right? That’s what your hope is?
Listen... McSkidmark wouldn’t have won a single state without Sarah...

...inasmuch as I mentioned Romney not at all in my post please accept my congratulations at your powers of inference regarding my political position...and I guess I’ll have to admit that states like Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, and Utah all were just champing at the bit to vote for Obama, but Sarah showed up just in the nick of time...

...sigh...this forum used to be a place for good, cutting edge political debate, but apparently that art has been tossed in favor of mindless invective...

Romney must step down now.

One can only dream that he does that and Sarah steps in his place. She would make an excellent president.

Thank you. Fox picked Romney after Florida. Hume, Krauthammer, and OReilly, must have gotten the word from Ailes to narrow the field and under the bus is where Newt ended up, but they haven’t killed him yet. He actually has detailed policies and the background of experience to make congress work. He has actually accomplished govt reform and Romney has accomplished Romneycare. Mitt loves using his wealth to destroy his opponents. Fox has taken on the arrogant personality of OReilly and ignores Newt. Palin is a true blue American Hero and so is Newt. Who else has taken so much crap and yet they keep improving and never quit. Sarah and Newt are focused on saving the country.

This is why Santorum supporters are not eager to switch to Newt.
He’s so great? Beat Romney without us.

All Republicans are viewed as idiots by the Media and other Dems, since Eisenhower.
Either stupid, crazy, or both.

"My opinion is we do not need another four years of obomba; having either obomba or romney (they're one and the same in spirit) in the White House is the end of America. We cannot afford that. "

Fair enough. However, I would suggest seeking out other conservative opinions on your assessment that Obama and Romney are the same before the election. The reality of another 4 years of Obama is going to be a lot more damaging to the country than a decade of Romney but don't take my word for it. Seek out other information as you have plenty of time before casting or NOT casing a vote.

Yes I did read Jim's post about no campaign for Romney. In fact I made several posts in that thread, one straight to Jim. I respect that this is his website but he must hear the voices of others if we are going to have a "FreeRepublic". The time for an anti Romney campaign is coming to a close. Soon it will be time for anti Obama and if Romney is the nominee that means sucking it up and voting for him. We can always work to get a better more conservative candidate the next time around. In fact that is out job but we don't do that by doing harm to the country. Does anyone think if McCain would have been elected we would be worse than we are with Obama? Of course not, unless you have lost a grip on reality. We would not have Obamacare, Stimulus.X, Fast and Furious, Acorns growing everywhere. More Czars than communist Russia could ever hope for. Keagan on the supreme court. Bottom line if you don't see the damage Obama has done then you are beyond help. I hope Jim is reflecting on the reality of four more years of this fraud of a man. Lastly I will always remind everyone, Obama is in charge of our military and our nuclear arsenal. Do you have any friends or family in the military? That alone should scare you.

Let’s play, “What would Sarah Do?”

Have sex with a basketball player from Ann Arbor, whom she didn’t know, or shoot a Cariboo?

Sara has actually made this choice. If you get it wrong just blame Roger.

They’d rather Santorum lose than Romney win. That much has been clear since February.

Now they are trying to sell us on Newt so that we social conservative suckers can pay off his debts. Not gonna happen.

He should endorse Romney, I’m sure Romney will be happy to dig in for 5 million or however much he’s sucked up already.

Politicians will do what seems expedient. My problem withy Romney is that I don’t know WHAT he wants to do, who his friends are and what THEY want. He is more a mystery to me than Obama was. I knew what Obama would do.

Even “we want Wilkie” was pre-arranged to block out the “isolationist” nominees from the Mid-west, Taft and Vandenberg.

Yes, I agree with you. We have 2 soldier sons who both completed 16 mo. in Iraq and 12 mo. in Afghanistan. Having Romney as Commander in Chief is obviously better than Obama, but having Palin or Gingrich would insure against military decline. We can hope in Romney case. It should sadden every American that Elder Bush, Dole and McCain were beaten by the likes of Clinton and Obama. It is a dangerous world with Freedom in decline. Both Newt and Palin love Freedom and the military and the military loves them.

"Soon it will be time for anti Obama and if Romney is the nominee that means sucking it up and voting for him"

Forgive me but WRONG!
I for one am sick and tired of taking three steps backward just to "suck it up" and take one imaginary step forward. Surrendering my freedoms, morals, values and country to appease the liberals that have infiltrated the Republican party is no longer an option.

I made it clear in my last post to you, and I've done more than enough research to support my stance, as has many here on FR, that I WILL NOT vote for romney under ANY circumstance. PERIOD!
A vote for romney is no different than a vote for obomba. I've made this challenge before and I will do it again... what are the "differences" between obomba and romney?

Case closed.

Until romney has enough delegates to secure the nomination he is NOT the republican nominee and it's anybodies nomination to take. Telling us it's over before it's over isn't going to convince me it's over. The day romney is the nominee you can bend over and kiss America's rear goodbye.

Just sayin.

Oh... BTW... Don't lie to us and tell us that you "were" a Perry supporter or that you "were" a Newt supporter. I can buy the off chance that you might've been a Perry supporter and that you subsequently moved to romney's camp but please... If you "were" a Newt supporter you would still be a "Newt" supporter. He's still in the race. The fact of the matter is you are doing nothing more than shilling for romney and everybody knows it.
