An Army soldier who lost his arms and legs during his third tour in Afghanistan last week underwent surgery Monday as supporters from around the globe offer prayers and messages of hope on a family website.

Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills, of Vassar, Mich., was injured when he stepped on an IED April 10 while serving with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is recuperating at a hospital in Germany and hopes to return stateside on Tuesday, three days after his 25th birthday, his father told FoxNews.com.

Thank you E.G.C. :) I just checked on the updates, figuring there wouldn’t be one until after Memorial day, but I could not have been more wrong. I have included the link to the page again, because there are more pictures and reminders for local events, but I just had to share two updates that could not have been more appropriate for THIS Memorial Day Weekend.

*The emphasis in Josh’s update is mine...

UPDATE FROM TEAM MILLS (5/26 @ 9:00AM CDT)
Just wanted to encourage Travis’s many supporters to visit TaylorMorris.org, a site dedicated to another solider severely wounded in action on May 3rd. Taylor is currently at Walter Reed on his own road to recovery. We also encourage you to join Taylor’s Facebook support group to follow his progress. We thank Taylor for his service and wish him a speedy recovery.

UPDATE FROM JOSH BUCK (5/25 @ 10:30PM CDT)

Had a good time with Travis today. His improvement in just two weeks is incredible. THE TALIBAN TRULY DO NOT KNOW THE STRENGTH OF THEIR ENEMY. Even in our darkest of times, we have the will power and technology to overcome anything they throw at us. All of our wounded warriors are to be admired. But this weekend, Monday in particular, we need to think and pray about our warriors who weren’t fortunate enough to be counted among the wounded and joined the ranks of our honored dead. So this Monday, as you cookout and drink beer, raise your glasses in a toast that is over a century old but was used commonly among WW1 aviators, “a drink to the dead already, and here’s to the next man who dies.” I will never forget my fallen brothers. Rest in peace.

May God bless and keep them, every one.

If you liked that, wait until you see these two, lol. I had to watch the first video twice to catch what happened at the end, but once I did, it made the second clip all the funnier/sweeter. What an awesome God, to strengthen and heal Chloe’s dad so he could come home, and begin her driver safety lessons :)

UPDATE FROM TEAM MILLS (5/27 @ 9:15AM CDT) Two videos of Travis giving driving lessons to Chloe just posted on the Facebook support page by Josh Buck. Thanks for sharing those, Josh. You can get to them directly by clicking here for first video or clicking here for the second video. Enjoy!

This young man and his family has given me SO much hope. Thank you Heavenly Father, for amazing young people such as these.
