Opus Time
Vanity Opus

Posted on 04/17/2012 4:47:30 PM PDT by Williams

Well it's been about 13 years forgot my initial sign in name, so pretty much from the beginning.

Never wanted to write a Free Republic Opus, love reading news stories here and commenting every day.

Would rather not go out in anger seems pointless.

Then today the owner of the site called me a RINO (I'm not), surrender monkey (not) and told me to write my opus and get out.

My sin was fighting with someone who suggested Obama losing in the latest poll is "bad news".

I could list all the insanity of what is going on here. I've tried to approach Jim Robinson in email to gently suggest the problems we are facing. It's clear from that he is not interested in discussing and resolving anything, which is a shame.

But what kind of man, American, conservative will I be if I worry more about losing my 12 year old screen name versus standing up to people who are espousing the advisability of reelecting Barack Hussein Obama, and yes if I fail to stand up to the owner of a site for calling me a liberal when I am a proud conservative?

What Jim Robinson is doing cannot work because first of all he is NOT attacking the posters who say it is best to reelect Obama. He's offended by anyone who says he is thereby supporting Obama. But he doesn't mind calling us names when we attack the pro Obamas.

OK folks, it's not going to work. You can't really oppose Obama's reelection if you may also oppose the republican's election.

Free Republic has become a house divided against itself and it cannot stand.

I'm a conservative I love my country, I have to wish away to the cornfield anyone who would assist in the reelection of Obama, from whatever misguided motivations.

I stand with Dick Cheney. The other day I had to fight with someone disparaging Cheney here. They were not criticized by the owner.

Jim Robinson owes me an apology. Not planning on getting one. The sad fact is I am not writing this because I'm offended. It's because I want to no longer assist here in the destruction of my country by those who will, to varying degrees, assist in Obama's reelection.

Six or seven liberals on the Supreme Court? Maybe atomic destruction down the pike after our disarmament. Israel destroyed. 2nd Amendment neutered. Obamacare used to deny people medical care based on age and political beliefs. Racial strife. A welfare socialist state. US attorneys going after republicans.

My wife is a cancer survivor who reasonably fears that in the future they will deny her care because she is a registered republican. And she's no RINO, she hates Obama and she won't read Free Republic stories anymore because of what is going on here.

We have a real country and real lives out here that go beyond Jim Robinson's ill advised name calling against sincere conservatives who dare to disagree with him.

So F anyone who calls me a RINO for standing with Dick Cheney and against Barack Obama. I hate RINO's and I despise misguided so called conservatives who do anything to reelect Obama.

13 years, but it's nothing when put to the wall on my beliefs against the left wing democrat party. I have too many mirrors to look in. The people here who are every day posting that it will be best to reelect Obama, should be thrown off. Instead, well...

It's over.

If the GOPe doesn’t get the votes they potentially could have gotten they will at least get the message that their candidate didn’t appeal to many voters.

If we're relying on post-election tallies of protest votes to make the GOP turn right, we're looking at a Leftist control of the White House for a couple of decades. I understand the anger, but it seems slight consolation in exchange for seeing Obama with four more years to destroy America.

Lazamataz: “I understand those who would vote for cancer over the slug, since it would give a person a chance to get their affairs in order.”

Well put. That’s pretty much the dilemma we’re facing. I don’t buy the argument that Romney is exactly the same as Obama. Romney doesn’t hate America. It’s pretty sad when an election comes down to that, isn’t it?

There are good conservatives on both sides of the dilemma. Mark Levin would vote for an orange juice can to stop Obama. Is Mark a RINO? I don’t think so. I think he’s making the decision you so appropriately described, choosing cancer in the hope a cure might be found before it’s too late. A bullet to the brain, i.e. re-electing Obama, is terminal.

I just can’t bring myself to criticize people on either side of the debate. Sometimes there’s no good choices in life, and it simply comes down to deciding how to die. Personally? I plan to sit this out and let death come as it may.

FReegards!

Th GOP isn't interested in Conservative votes. Mittens in the smokey back room is already making statements that he will be pandering to Hispanics with tax breaks. The game is RIGGED. A one party system of two Socialist parties. Third party and going Galt IS the wave of the future. Vote’m out and starve them of revenue. The SEIGE is game on.

First of all, I want to thank you for being willing to have a persuasive discussion. As for the question of how to purge it when it’s giving them the only thing they want, our vote, I think you make a great point. They have gotten my vote and I wish I had realized this truth sooner than I did. There is however, something they all would like more than my vote. It has to do with staying above room temperature.

that is nonsense...the way Palin had millions in her hands shocked the establishment and scared them....the only reason she didn't win is because of the contrived financial "crisis" from soros...as you might remember Palin/Mccain were surging at that time...

after that election, we had two years to get a lot of good conservatives, common sense people in office...

it was a backlash against the rat machine and bamey...

Scott walker for one....

but we could have done better except the third party dopes decided to give a few seats to the rats...(Minn!!!)

As a matter of logic, principle, and plain english, calling someone who votes for the REPUBLICAN nominee for president a RINO simply for that vote is assinine.

If a Republican is anything, it is the person who has won the party nomination for President.

Conservative? Not in the name “Republican”. I think way too many people forget that, and thus fail miserably at their attempts at personal insult.

LOL Well, that's true and if the GOPe keeps pushing socialism there are going to be a lot of people dropping in temperature in the not so distant future. I hate the fact that I voted for McLame which I only did because Palin was on his ticket. It just encouraged the GOPe to keep pushing socialists.

Are you going to get angry when someone writes about Romney’s record in Massataxes?

No. I'll be the first to agree. I refer to Mitt as Obomney already. I'm not even saying he can beat Obama, in fact I highly doubt it. I'm simply saying if Obama wins, the window of opportunity in which we can do something about taking back our country will be closed.

I can and I will if the Pubbie is Mitt Romney.

How exactly will you "oppose" Obama's re-election? What will you do that will stop his re-election? Tell us all your plan that will not leave us with 4 more years of Obama? I'm really curious to hear it.

You have every right to oppose Romney, and to vote against him, and to tell others to not support him. But I don't see how you are also doing something to oppose Obama's re-election, if Romney is the Republican nominee. Because you have to choose -- either you will stop Romney from winning, or you will stop Obama from winning. There's no chance of getting a 3rd-party elected.

With respect, you didn't answer my question. I was in no way implying that W was like Romney..what I said was, purely for argument's sake, assume that for whatever reason, Bush was as unacceptable then as Mitt is now...what I said is still true..if 25% of Freepers in Florida..about 600.. hadn't voted for the top of the ticket, then Gore would be president. YOu can't ignore that.

And I was not suggesting that you are blindly following JR's advice..merely that he is the most vocal voice for those, like you, who can't abide voting for Mitt.

You assume the GOP is interested in turning right There is no evidence past, present, or future that this is so.

You might not be a conservative...with apologies to Jeff Foxworthy

If you claim to support traditional marriage and then vote for a man whose laws enshrined homosexual marriage, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you claim to be opposed to special rights for homosexuals and vote for a man who legislated special rights for homosexuals, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you claim to support the military and vote for a man who is 100% in favor of gays openly derving in the military and 100% supports Obama’s decision to allow gays to openly serve in the military, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you claim to be anti-abortion and then vote for a man who put abortion on the McMass $50 menu, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you claim that you are conservative or Republican, then vote for a man who does not and has not followed the Republican platform, nor agree with it, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you are a believer in the 2nd Amendment and vote for a man who has pushed for and passed any form of gun control legislation, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you vote for a man who believes that ‘Mandates work” in a free market system, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you go on a private internet site dedicated to conservatism and repeat often that you intend to vote for a candidate who is guilty of all the above, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

If you seem to think you are special and the words ‘do not promote Mitt Romney on this site’ do not in your own mind, apply to you, You just might have abandoned your conservatism.

And lastly...

If you do not understand that a vote for a person and his policies equals support for that person and his policies, You quite possibly never understood what conservatism was to begin with.

Your false dichotomies are tiresome. If 0bama and Romney are the only choices then the only choices are immoral choices. But the choice to not participate still exists. I can oppose both of their candidacies actively if I want to. Who wins is irrelevant to me. Both are evil.
