If so, HOW?

If something were to happen to Romney at this late date the GOP elites would just emerge from some smoke-filled room with a reasonable facsimile thereof.
Ok, you know what, we all have to get over the fact that we, as conservatives, lost this thing. It wasn't "jammed down our throats". It didn't come from a "smoke-filled rooms". It didn't happen because of the "elites".

Do the elites support Romney? Sure they do.

But guess what? Before Rick Santorum dropped out, SIX MILLION VOTES WERE COUNTED AGAINST ROMNEY, and only five million for Romney.

Romney lost the vote count.

But he's going to win the nomination because those 6 million CONSERVATIVE VOTES were DIVIDED.

If we had stuck together, we would have beat Romney.

It wasn't the elites (though of course they are pleased).

And it wasn't the "smoke filled rooms".

It was us. It was ourselves. It was WE THE PEOPLE.

We didn't unite behind a single conservative and chose instead to bicker amongst ourselves (read FR from about Sep'11-Mar'12 to relive the sorry spectacle, if you can stomach it) and allow a MINORITY CANDIDATE (ie, Romney) to skate right in past us.

When the primary comes to NJ, if Newt is on the ballot I will vote for him.

I do not want Mitt Romney, and will do what I can, in the time remaining, to help stop him.

But I'm going to tell it like it is on the subject of how we got Mitt Romney. No one rammed him down our throats. WE did the ramming. All by ourselves.

He’s trying to deadlock the convention, and he’s trying to qualify to be a force there.

Just deadlocking a convention isn't enough. If it is deadlocked, then the delegates and party officials will bargain for votes. Newt would need a strategy as to how he gets delegates for other candidates to vote for him. The problem I see is the powers that be will want to follow the money and right now Newt is broke.

All of the MSM was, late last week, referring to Romney as “the presumptive nominee”. (Barf)

>> This year we get Romney - four years ago we got McCain.

It is a system that has been going on for almost as long as I’ve been alive. Why is everyone so surprised?

Ford
Reagan (the one popular and conservative candidate out of all of them, but if he was running today with his 1979 record, he wouldn’t pass the 100% Conservative litmus test we demand today)
Bush I
Dole
Bush II
McCain
Romney

The GOP does not allow the people to choose the nominee. Look at the screwed-up primary rules they give us as proof.

PA primary is tomorrow. Not a single non-presidential candidate I want to vote for. Lots of write-ins for me. At least I get to vote for Newt. As for November it seems most of the country will be voting for Barak O’Romney.

If those that claim to be conservatives were to support Newt and raise hell across this country, then yes, it’s possible.

Ronald Reagan’s warnings about losing our freedoms echoes down through a generation of lost momentum and squandered opportunity.

We now have the most ignorant electorate in the history of American elections. I believe we have the most corrupt government and media our country has ever seen.

I believe that Newt was the one leader that could have turned our country away from the abyss, intelligently and quickly.

It is abundantly clear that not enough folks shared my beliefs, instead of a leader, they wanted a preacher.... and far too many lacked the courage to forgive and look beyond the personal sins in a mans past and into the promise of a brighter future for our country. That is certainly a free choice and a personal choice.... and as it is with all choices, there will be consequences.

I will continue to stand with Newt, but in all candor, it looks more and more like the enemy has won. In any case, Tampa should be a site to behold.

For me, the GOP-e is dead and they will NEVER get another vote or dollar from me as long as I live. AND, I will hold those that supported and voted for the GOP-e candidate in contempt.

In any case, Americans will get the country it apparently wants and a country it so richly deserves.

“Start a third party run by anyone. That will ensure Romney doesn’t win.”

I suspect Zero will handle that easily. They haven’t begun to unload on RINOmney yet. He gives Obama cover for his worst decisions while serving as a tailor made punching bag.

Those two left-of-center parties may have already have pushed the country into a decline.

Better get used to the fact that there will never be another conservative President of the US. Why ? Well IMHO there are three main reasons.

1 - The US is fiscally insolvent and will collapse very soon. It has the largest amount of debt in world history. Impossible to recover.

2 - Right now the power vultures are picking apart the remains of the US. They will not allow any honest conservative to get in the way because collapse is occurring and this is their last chance at carving up what is left of the Turkey.

3 - Why on Earth would a true honest conservative with integrity ever want to run such a fiscally insolvent country ? Impossible to make this country solvent now. It is over.

The only people who can be allowed the top positions in power for the US right now, or who would actually want to be a part of the corrupt power structure, are the criminally insane. My advice, act as if the US government has collapsed because it will. This is the fall of Rome in fast forward.

I just hope that Mittens picks a fellow twink for veep instead of a Conservative. I don’t want anybody on our side being blamed for Romney losing in November the way they tried to pin McCain’s loss on Governor Palin.

I agree, and if we continue to focus only on the GOPe, we will learn the wrong lesson and repeat our mistakes in four years. until we poem up to our problem, we won’t change. WE DID NOT UNITE BEHIND A CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE IN 2011.

It is Willards “turn”
He has worked so hard and long

what, campaigned 6 years, spent 50 million of his own money, and all of 35% of the GOP have ever or still “like” him?

The GOP always gives it to the guy whose “turn” it is, like Bob Dole and John McCain. Putting Willard in the game is like letting the rich guy who can't pitch play all 9 innings because his money paid for the concession stands

If Willard blows his “turn” he'll go away and in 2016 it will be the next guy's “turn”. The GOP (garrulous old party) has probably already figured out whose turn it is in 2016
