Mitt Romney has been citing an interesting economic statistic lately about the economy under Barack Obama: “Well, let’s look at what happened. What you’re not going to hear is that during his term median income in America has dropped by $3,000.” Here he is on “Hannity,” repeating the same number.
That’s a pretty striking figure. Is it true? The answer depends somewhat on what numbers you use — there are more and less charitable options available — but the answer is arguably yes.

Decline in income, combined with decline in purchasing power due to higher prices for anything that’s sensitive to commodity prices(virtually everything) due to ‘ctrl+p’ from the Federal Reserve. That REALLY sucks!
Mine dropped $25K when I moved from Seattle to KY. That was about a 15% drop. But the cost of living is much lower here. Heck, even gas is about 30 cents a gallon cheaper. I also pay about 2/3 in real estate taxes per year, what my friends in Seattle pay per MONTH.
Add to this growing our own chickens for eggs, a couple of beef cattle and a 1/4 acre garden (and the occasional wild turkey and deer that wanders by our house), and life is very good.
Health Insurance double, Food Prices double, Gas Prices double, Domestic Drilling on Federal Land cut in half, House Values cut in half, etc.
Sounds like you made a terrific choice!(hopefully no liberal voters followed you). Just don’t tell anyone back in Seattle how good you have it in KY. :p
But I have hope and a handful of change.
3K? Mine has dropped 30K.....
I bought the place two weeks before Obama was elected. Took me almost two years to get a foothold job-wise, but it was worth it. ;)
It is all over. I am hoping to make a move to NC from TN and that alone will cost me 3.5k a year. Democrats suck!
Obama is just trying to make things fair.
Since he can’t drag the animals, moochers, welfare Queens, race pimps and crack-ho’s up, he is dragging the rest of us down.
During this Obama regime, my taxable income definitely dropped — by significantly more than the median amount — because I dropped it myself, by design.
I’m taking my compensation in other ways that don’t include such a hefty slice off the top to feed the government beast.
I wonder how many more like me are out there.
When a thief destroys your $5000 A/C unit to get $10 worth of copper, he does not care that “average” wealth decreased by about $2500. He only cares that he gets his beer and smokes. It is the same with Obama voters (usually the same people as the A/C thief.)
Yet they attacked Sarah Palin for her wardrobe.

it may have dropped by $3k... but the dollar has also been cut in half during the same timeframe
Then if they let the Bush tax cuts expire, more and more of us will be needing food stamps and welfare. Who will be left to bail us out?
