Obama Reelection Campaign To Target A New Voter Set: Military Families

By Amy Gardner and Scott Wilson April 26

President Obama and the first lady will greet soldiers at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga., on Friday at a time when his reelection campaign is focused more intently than ever on a novel and potentially fruitful voter set: military families.

On Thursday, Vice President Biden delivered a speech in which he made clear that the president’s record winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — contrasted with Republican Mitt Romney’s position of wanting to stay longer in both countries — would be a central argument of the reelection campaign.

The message from both Obama and Biden is clear: They will campaign on the president’s foreign policy record and actions to bolster services for veterans while aggressively criticizing Romney on the same subjects — and issuing pointed examples of the Republican’s lack of proposals to assist returning veterans and their families.

“Governor Romney is counting on our collective amnesia,” Biden said in a campaign speech in New York on Thursday billed as the first of many that will highlight what advisers described as the shortcomings of Romney’s foreign policy proposals. “But Americans know that we cannot afford to go back to the future.”

Joe -- “But Americans know that we cannot afford to go back to the future.”

Furthermore, we also know that we can't "Return to the failed policies of the past." Joe and his henchman keep drilling that into us.

I guess all that's left to do is live for the moment -- no jobs, tyranny, unaffordable energy, racial hatred, class warfare.

What a conundrum.

I thought the new slogan for Obamaturd is “winning the future”?

Funny these Washington comPOst lib writers who few years ago were hunting high and low for dead soldiers pics from the Iraq War now they’re shilling that Buttcrack Obama is pro-military when he hates the very idea of the US military.

Just another of his schitzophrenic re-election tactics, similar to the comedy, campus visits, and TV "performances" to attract the "youth" vote.

His campaign tour of college campuses touting the "non-issue" of the expiring reduced interest rate for college loans already being handled by the Congress and the inference that he is "saving" of that rate for them, together with his unsubstantiated claims about his own difficulty paying off college loans may make for good political theater, but it relies on the naivete and "dumbing down" these students have experienced in their schools.

Submitted here is an example of student reaction to one of his visits yesterday.

Had students been taught that the debtor is slave to the debtholder, and that the role of government is not to enslave people by offering to make them indebted, but to provide a framework of laws to protect their freedom, they might not be attracted to shallow "rock star" style leadership, but to someone of scholarly substance who would tell them the truth about civilizations's historical struggle for individual freedom and of their own Constitution's limits on power in government.

Sadly, the facts presented in the articles on this thread are not presented to these students, who, likely will not find jobs available because of the "taking" and "spending" philosophy of the redistributionist policies of the past 3+ years, and decades of government's ignoring Constitutional limits on spending, deficits, and debt.

I’ve heard from a military family that Bam and Mooch have been “supporting” and visiting military families quietly behind the scenes for a while now. Of course their motives aren’t pure but it’s disconcerting to think they may be fooling some of the people some of the time..
