I’ve got a couple of hundred plants in flats.

I’ve potted up a bunch of herbs, parsley, chives, basil, rosemary, sage, thyme, marjoram, fennel, cumin...Everything but the cumin has taken off.

Today was bath day for the pups.

Doing fine now that I have a weekend off.

Spent a very domestic sort of day and tried to work myself into a nub.

THE SOLDIER’S CODE

Gen Dwight D. Eisenhower addresses troops of the 101st Airborne Division 5Jun1944 prior to D-Day Normandy

The Soldier’s Code

1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.

3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.

5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.

6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.

All's well...and something to look forward too as well.

A friend of mine got two tickets to a Harlem Globetrotter's game that's coming our way. Been to several, here and there, most importantly here, with my son. Always a great show.

Mac Davis turned to TV in 1974, getting his own variety show on NBC, which lasted for two years. He had himself another hit, straddling the worlds of pop and country along the way.

I’m doing OK other than my back being flared up.

The fur faces are good.

I had dump truck of compost and one of topsoil delivered at Runamuck.

Shoveling and leveling it is probably what got my back.

Won’t be long and stuff will be ready to go into the ground.

They do put on a great show. I went to a game here in D.C. decades ago. Have seen them on TV a few times over the years. When I saw them live, a young Meadowlark Lemon was the big draw.

In 1979, Mac Davis turned to acting, making his feature film debut with Nick Nolte in “North Dallas Forty”. Casablanca Records signed Mac away from Columbia. This label had been a player in the world of disco and with Kiss, and now they opened up a country branch. In 1980, Mac hosted an episode of “The Muppets Show” and contributed this classic.
