Yesterday, Ryan claimed that Ayn Rand's philosophy "reduces human interactions down to mere contracts and it is antithetical to my worldview." But in 2005, Ryan said, "The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand," and in 2003, he claimed that he gave out copies of Atlas Shrugged as Christmas presents. And those two examples are really only the tip of the Rand-love iceberg. Is this how you impress Mitt Romney? By proving that you can flip-flop as egregiously as

The original plan was for April 15 release dates on three consecutive years, which was reasonable considering that it should have been filmed as a continuous production. (A few Harry Potter movies and the Lord of the Rings came a year apart and they were much bigger spectacles.)
Of course, that was before the movie failed to meet expectations. Glad to hear that they're still doing part 2 -- I was afraid it had been abandoned.

The article itself is short to the point of being non-existent. The responses, however, are thought provoking.

“Free trade” isn’t to blame as much as the US having a government that makes it nearly impossible for us to practice it here.
Having oppressive regulations and the highest taxes on Earth makes the US a terrible place for investment.

big yawn.
If Ryan were a liberal they would say he has a “nuanced” view of Rand.
Unless you are a hardcore believer in her atheist objectivist view...then you are going to wind up rejecting alot of her worldview.
Apart from that...she was brilliant at nailing class envy to the wall, and was very prophetic despite her atheism.

I still remember her commercial for the New York Daily News. They had a campaign where they had writers (from Rand to Jimmy Breslin) endorse the paper. Literally the only words you could make out in the entire ad were "Ayn Rand" and "Daily News." But given the fervency of her acolytes (somewhat like the Paulies), that was probably enough. Source, please. Not believable.

I’m not a big fan of her myself. Nor was Whittaker Chambers.

I enjoyed Rand and her views appealed to me when I was younger. Over the years, less and less. Shes good on capitalism and free markets, but loses it completely for me at any level above that; her metaphysics are extremely week.Don't you mean extreamly?

By your reasoning then, President Reagan was an evil communist for awarding Eric Hoffer the Presidential Medal of Freedom, right?

How many days did the ad run and when was it? Was it a full page? Were you a subscriber? Ayn Rand would never let anyone associate her name with Jimmy Breslin or any of the other of those NY lefties.

If we would have let them fail in the fall of 2008 this fiscal nightmare would be over and billionaires would be millionaires and the old guard would have been properly replaced by the new entrepreneur, the young guns creating something the people want.

Hmm I don’t really give a damn what Paul Ryan thinks of Ayn Rand or whether or not he’s changed his mind about her. Doesn’t sound very important to me. ;d
