Voting for Romney (D-Mass.): The Worst Mistake a Conservative Could Make
Country Thinker ^ | april 7, 2012 | Ted Lacksonen

Posted on 04/30/2012 9:14:40 AM PDT by Mozilla

Why am I so passionate today? Well, most readers who visit here know the country is in deep doo-doo. I’m here to tell you that voting for Mitt Romney (D-Mass.) will not change that fact and may make things worse. I will explain two things. First, Romney (D-Mass.) is the presumptive Republican nominee precisely because he will do nothing to improve our country’s fortunes. He is the chosen one because he will maintain the status quo. That is what the GOP machine has chosen him to do.

Second, you cannot “take over” the Republican machine and turn it into something in decent. I have made that statement before, but I’m going to describe the machine in greater detail. Keep in mind that this is information I have obtained from current and former GOP insiders. Everyone on the inside agrees that the Party has been constructed so it cannot be taken over. They have also constructed a political system so the political duopoly is very, very difficult to challenge. (Republican insiders HATE political freedom, like so many other freedoms.) Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing is a matter of judgment. For conservatives and libertarians it’s bad. For establishmentarians it’s wonderful.

Finally I will explain why voting for Romney (D-Mass.) is the worst thing you can do, regardless of whether you’re a “principals” voter or a “strategic” voter.

If you are not one hundred percent convinced that I am correct in those statements, you absolutely must read the rest of this piece and tell me where I’m wrong. I know I’m correct, and I can assure you that if you vote for Romney (D-Mass.) it will be the greatest political regret of your life.

The ironic thing is, I would put my pro-life beliefs, credentials and experiences against anybody's

Who's talking about anybody's credentials or experiences?

(I'm not)

I don't know you. You're a stranger -- as is your past.

But I can distinguish between past performance and current advocacy.

When you support somebody, who post his so-called "pro-life conversion," still advocated -- to Katie Couric the first week of December, 2007...a full year into his so-called "pro-life" campaign mode...that it's "OK" for "parents" to give their offspring to "research," then let's not do what the liberals do and start playing euphemistic word-games.

Let's call our offspring who they are...and no, that doesn't mean becoming advocates for how "researchable" they might be...and embrace such candidates that do that...

If 90-99% of pro-life voters vote for a "pro-abort," why bother even trying to set ourselves apart from other pro-abort voters?
If 90-99% of conservative voters vote for a liberal, why bother even trying to set ourselves apart from other liberal voters?

Just run down the Romney list and ask yourself the same Q re: big govt, socialistic healthcare, appointing liberal judges, global warming, etc...

America will not survive another four years of the current commie-in-chief.

Hey, we've been friends. I respect your opinions.

You might be right here. And I respect all FREEPERs who continually make this point.

I need to ask you, tho, are you speaking prophetically here? Are you sure our God isn't strong enough to help us overcome an enemy like Obama?

'Cause I'll tell you what...I've studied quite carefully the series of persecutions that Christians underwent in the 300 years post-Christ's death & resurrection...And even though some of those civilizations didn't fair well, the Christians not only survived but thrived!

If you can show me ONE just one candidate other than Milt Rominy who has an outside chance of dethroning little barry abstard, then I will vote for that one.

OK. It may seem a bit obvious after I tell you...but...if I am right...and IF we as a country do survive another Obama 4 years...the answer is "Choice C."

And who is Choice C?

Lord willing, it's a conservative who can win in 2016! [Believe me, Obama is not permanent! And Romney is no "political savior."]

Please all I am suggesting is that we "bite the bullet" in 2012...the very same message we need to send to Congress & the White House!

I'll be voting against the Communist, you go ahead and sit this one out.

Neither one will claim to be Communist ... but there will be two on the ballot that are at least socialist ... which one are you voting against? Is it okay to come back to FR and b*tch about the one that you did support? Is that really any better?

Work to deny him (Romney) a second term - WITH WHOM? Party candidates normally do not run against their own incumbent. And, if you think it’ll go “all primary” on an incumbent Romney, I’ve got some beach land to sell you in Nebraska. That will not happen.

I’m with you; let’s all work to re-elect President Obama.
Sure. Why not? What have we got to lose?

It would have to start now ... not in early 2016. A message would have to be sent to Mittens ... loud and clear ... that we will not stand for any further left leanings from him. And if he does, we will have a conservative candidate waiting and ready to challenge him. This could be accomplished by more involvement from the tea party folks, calls to representatives/senators, etc ... the avenues to keep Mittens in check.

IMO, that would be a lot easier than recovering from 4 more years of the Kenyan.

We have a very opposite opinion. You believe the voting rights will survive four more years and chaos and mayhem of a collapsed economy will not happen if barry is ruler for four more years. I most adamently disagree and I have clear indications that the final collapse is already being arranged, to end American resistence to the global one world government and banking powers. I understand that it is more comforting to believe God will not allow US to collapse, but you forget Wse The People have allowed evil to rise to unimagined heights, even willfully slaughtering the blessings God sends to US via the womb. I’m sure you’re familiar with the Biblical passage of ‘If my People, who are called by my name ...’ Well, Colo, We The People spit on that long ago and now we are fending off evil we could not have imagined rising to control this once great country. Milt may buy US more time to repent. Barry will crush US if we allow him to remain in power. He is an evil man with evil bosses who placed him at the top over another evil person, Hillary Clinton. Our votes are the last resort we have, and I don’t appreciate you trying to squerlch my posts by inveigling this discussion with ‘don’t you believe our God is big enough?’ Our God is giving us chance after chance to renet of this abandonment of our sovereignty. Voting against little barry commie is an exercise of sovereignty, to buy US time to change the direction of this nation or perish.

blessings to your little one.

Thanks. We had his fourth (time flies) birthday party three or four weeks ago. We have a couple of nieghbors with little ones his age and he is almost as tall as they are. He has pretty much caught up. I appreciate your and other folks on here thoughts and concerns during that time. I know your prayers made a difference.

I look forward to getting through November so that we can put this FR rift (FRift?) behind us. I am just not sure how many of us will be left by then.

Huh?

So if Obamah is defeated without your help, you will still be disappointed?

I'm not a Romney supporter by any stretch of the imagination but I sure as hell will vote for whoever is running against him on the Republican ticket.

And don't blame Texans for Romney's nomination, we don't even vote in Texas until May 29.

I'll take an America-Loving Rino over an America-Hating Communist any day.

But you ARE givin' it to Romney ... ain'cha' ?

We single voters do what we can, and the states end up where they end up.

RINO or no ... will you vote ... and whether you do or don't ... what will you do if Romney beats ozero?

(fat chance, imo)

No, I will not be disappointed if a socialist, any socialist, is defeated. I definitely prefer that. The only way I will not be disappointed is if a Constitutional conservative is victorious. A socialist defeating a socialist does not increase or decrease my disappointment level at all. It does not appear a conservative will win the 2012 raise, so I am already prepared for disappointment.

I'll take an America-Loving Rino over an America-Hating Communist any day.

Please define "America-Loving" for me. Does America-Loving include raising taxes 300%? Implementing Cap-n-Trade? Drinking the global warming kool-aid? Banning your guns? Bailing out companies? Advancing gay marriage? Killing babies? I'm confused as to what exactly "America-Loving" means to you. These are all Romney positions; what makes him "America-Loving", the "R" behind his name? Seriously?

“Ruling Class”? That’s Marxist terminology.

So that makes it off limits to anyone else? Try reading Codevilla's American Spectator piece, America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution -- a piece that Limbaugh devoted an entire show to, with approval. (Even if you don't care for Rush, you really can't call him a Marxist!)

You're right, why even go to the polls.

Let's just give Obamah another 4 years to fundamentally change America.

Geezzzz

Well, that's just dumb. But if you want to stay home, that's your call. I'll go to the polls and cast my votes ... for the conservatives on the ballot. Because if I vote for the liberals with the liberals, I become no better than a liberal. And I have too much common sense for that. Maybe you do to.

fish hawk:

If Slick Willard, the utterly unprincipled Wall Street marionette, is elected, get back to us when he makes his first SCOTUS appointment, when the brainless GOP Senate Caucus votes the nominee onto the court as "one of ours" and the nominee naturally turns out to be somewhere to the left of such stellar GOP previous nominees as John Paul Stevens, David "Swish" Souter, William Brennan, and Herod Blackmun. Thanks, nice work! If that's the best you've got, why bother with politics at all? At least Republican Senators will TRY to stop any Obamanations appointed to vacancies and may even succeed.

I am no longer a libertarian and would not vote for pot smoker, pro-abort Gary Johnson on a bet but the rest of this article is right on the money.

If Romney does indeed become the Republican nominee, lots of Freepers like yourself will join the Liberals in defeating him in November.

Sad. ...very sad.

I just can’t see how sitting out the election or voting for Obama is better than biting the bullet and voting for Romney.I want Romney if for no other reason than to enjoy the spectacle of the Obamas marching their pink asses out of the White House.
