Election Strategy for Conservatives
Free Republic Exclusive! | 5-1-12 | Antoninus

Posted on 05/01/2012 8:52:08 PM PDT by Antoninus

Let's face it. The second Mitt Romney becomes the Republican nominee for president, conservatives have lost the 2012 election. The time has come to attempt to make the best of a bad situation.

Please allow me to present my analysis of our current political situation and my worst- and best-case scenarios.

Worst outcome: Obama wins, Democrats Take Control of the Congress.
If that happens, conservatives have lost everything for the next generation at least. Nothing short of divine intervention could save us from socialism at that point.

Second worst outcome: Romney wins
If Romney wins, it doesn't matter who controls the Congress. Socialism will progress, and fast. Romney will have no opposition from Republicans and Democrats will only oppose to push him even further to the left. And he will acquiesce. That's his MO. Worse, Republicans will rightly get the blame for every piece of socialist legislation that Romney signs, resulting in catastrophic defeats in 2014 and a loss of the presidency in 2016 to an even more radical Democrat commanding even more insuperable majorities in Congress than Obama did in 2008.

Least bad outcome: Obama wins with less than 50% of the vote, Republicans control Congress with solid majorities in each house.
This could happen with the emergence of a strong conservative third party candidate that bleeds votes from Romney, giving Obama a Clinton-style non-mandate victory. A strong conservative third party would also have the effect of energizing otherwise apathetic conservatives to come out and vote for conservative Republicans down-ticket, even while voting against Liberal Mitt on the top line. The resulting government produces only gridlock which keeps us in the fight with momentum leading into 2014 and 2016.

Given this, I have decided, for the first time in my life, to vote for a Third Party candidate for president in November. If no one with more national name recognition emerges, Virgil Goode will be getting my vote. I encourage others to think about it and do likewise.

Conversely, you could delude yourself into thinking that Romney isn't as bad as his record clearly shows him to be and spend your time, treasure and energy helping to elect an admitted "progressive" to the presidency. If you decide to do that, God bless you. But don't claim you weren't warned.

But of course, I didn't say that.

A key part of your recommendation is the re-election of Obama, this is part of what you are advocating and promoting. I think this is very close to: Keeping the Obama regime in power is a good idea.

And it is a very lousy idea.

;)

I don't expect him to win. I expect him to keep Romney from winning

So your intention is, in fact, to see to the re-election of Barack Obama. Glad you finally came right out and said it.

Now, please explain the virtues of four more years of Obama's executive orders, judicial nominations, loading the bureaucracy with marxist operatives who cannot be raked out just for cause, and a decapitated military, their chiefs replaced with insipid, pusillanimous, perfumed princes like Colin Powell whose only cause is their own career advancement.

I'll be interested to read your response explaining how this will be good for America.

No, that's just another aspect of your self-delusion. If the GOP retains the House, there's no way Boehner doesn't come back as speaker.

My response is this: What in Romney's record gives you any reason to believe that he'll be better?

This has nothing to do with what is good for America. This is about smugness. Voting for jonny b goode is the supposed conservative version of owning a prius. You don’t rate the distance, just the smugs per gallon...

Go back and read your “Least bad outcome:”

You're hardly in a position to call someone “delusional”. What you wrote was nothing but unadulterated fantasy.

That sounded just like the lines from a movie with Bette Davis called “All About Eve”.

Hm. Thanks, now I gotta go try and find it. :)

FRiend, alarm bells should go off in your head when you advocate and promote re-electing Obama on here.

You're a Romney supporter. Gotcha. Just don't claim to be a conservative, ok? You're supporting a liberal.

ding, ding, ding...winner. Obama doesn’t give a hoot who holds congress. He doesn’t need them. He doesn’t give a damn what white people think of him, legacy-wise, and he will use a second term to wreak havoc. He’s already ginning up racial unrest, and is obviously behind the occupy people. Obama is going to use his second term to go to war with this country. It’s just foolishness to think letting him have another four years is anything short of a disaster, and could possibly be the end of this country.

I like how Virgil Goode was AGAINST the idea of his mother not being able to have a cigarette on her deathbed if she desired.

I read a tiny bit about him today - he seems Good(e). !

Of course, I’m right with you on your post.

The conservative “calvalry” will be lulled into a false sense of security if Mittly is elected.

The only other thing that might happen, IMHO, if Mittly is elected is that perhaps the Euro-American-sovereign debt bubble will pop and cause a dramatic economic collapse around the world - and this would happen on the Republican ESTABLISHMENT’s watch.

And they will be clueless as to what to do. And it will provide a chance for the scraggly conservative parties around the country to actually develop into a replacement party.

Perhaps by 2014 Congressional elections or maybe 2016, we will be talking about Democratic (Socialist) and a new conservative party as being the two parties.

Perhaps no parties at all - go back to the way it was at the initial founding of the nation. Elected officials try to do what’s right, citizens watch them, the law is not watered-down and it’s enforced. And people who serve for their own gain get rooted out by incessant public scrutiny. And those who actually are “serving” are successful people who don’t need the paycheck and benefits; they serve a few years and then go home.

We think this is so impossible today but think about it - with today’s technology - it’s actually easier to monitor and publish than it was then ! The monitoring and publishing is already starting to happen ! (Thanks FR and many others !) !

I don’t know, but I do know the Repub establishment is lookin’ like a run-down has-been party of folks who don’t really understand their own purported principles, they simply want to have the power of being elected. IMHO, need more character than that to successfully stand up to commies.

While I support the concept of a 3rd party we don’’t have that luxury. Where a 3rd party comes into play really is under the parlemetary system . We don’t have a parliemtary system. The founding fathers with good reason learned from the English system and why our constitutoon is created the way it is including the dekegate electors system.

That means that a candidate for the executive branch must understand this and when annoucing and running for that office work within that complicated system.

Those who advocate getting conservatives and constitutionalists elected in the legislative branches are on the right track..

With Romney we can only hope he sheds his seeming naiviete and like Reagan whom I actively supported in his tripple attempts to reach the presidency has a “epiphany”. Reagan did on many issues and did change if you review what he did as governor of California.

Right now for example we have a Chinese blind dissodent in our embassy he’s there because of the one boy child policy of that govenment. His Romneycare supports population control and by the way in his earler time so did Churchill. I use that as an example.

What is extremely frustating about Romney is that with Obama missrepresenting a Romney statement about taking out OBL. But the reason Obama brought that up was to get back at Clinton because there is great dissatisfaction with the commie economics Obama has been using which is actually Fascist because he and his supporters are doing well.

But There’s Hillary in the wings awaiting.

What I suggest is to fully back those legislators who are conserative and the reaminder of the primaries support Santorum whereever he on is on their ballot and hope that Obamacare get killed outright by the court or if it doesn’t Romney would pledge he would support repeal.

Meaningless reply — ‘nuff said (next time include the apostrophe, else people may think you are using a word that does not exist).

If you suggest there is some aspect of my moniker that provides less than complete analysis then it is incumbent on you to provide the entirety of your argument.

We don’t want people to think you are lazy, do we?
