Virgil Goode Polling 5% in Virginia
Independent Political Report ^ | May 1st, 2012

Posted on 05/02/2012 9:47:32 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Virgil Goode is a former Congressman from Virginia as well as the current Presidential nominee of the Constitution Party. He has lived in Virginia all his life and the family name “Goode” means something in the area due to he and his father’s political careers. Now Public Policy Polling has found that Goode scores 5% against Obama and Romney in Virginia, even when an “Other” option is included.

Another interesting angle in Virginia is the candidacy of former Congressman Virgil Goode as the Constitution Party candidate for President. We find him polling at 5% in a three way contest with Obama’s lead over Romney expanding to 12 points at 50-38. It seems unlikely Goode would ultimately get 5% but anything he gets could help flip the state to Obama given how small Romney’s margin for error there is. Goode gets 10% from those describing themselves as ‘very conservative,’ suggesting that Romney does still have some work to do with the far right.
As always, the disclaimer here is that polling numbers for third parties and independents tend to decline as we approach election day.

Didn’t they invoke the mercy rule on Keyes’ last election. They called it for his opponent the second week of October.

I’m writing my name in; any one else is a disgrace to my principled principles.

I was going to do the same thing but when I reflected on my life over the years, it seems that I've flip-flopped on some issues and I just can't bring myself to vote for a flip-flopper!

NOTE: concerning hypocrisy, it's 99.99999999% in the mind of the beholder. Mohammad, though, said "Kill the hypocrites" ~ it's right there in your bedside companion Holy Koran.

Leftwingtards want public policy to be made on the basis of what they imagine hypocrisy to be against ~ which is just crazy talk ~ but we know that.

Jesus also told us to not bother with our neighbors sins when we ourselves are consumed with it.

Let’s get behind Mittens...’cause he’s ‘OUR’ Socialist.

Yes, that’s sarcasm. I hope he polls better than 5%, then, maybe, the GOP-e will take a bit of notice.

With Romney as the GOP presidential nominee, then if conservatives vote for “ANYBODY BUT ROMNEY OR OBAMA” it will result in four more years of Obama. No, thanks. I’m not handing the Supreme Court on a silver platter to some Marxist just so I can say “don’t blame me, I voted for Virgil Goode” (or some other third-party candidate with a 0% chance of winning).

If Obama wins VA, he will win reelection (unless he loses in both OH and PA). Goode’s intentions may be pure for all I know, but the effect of his candidacy will be to help the Democrat Party for which he ran for so many years until he left in 2001 in anticipation of GOP redistricting.

“Anybody who claims to be voting on principle or “to save their soul” strikes me as a complete and total hypocrite.”

You are absolutely incorrect and being dishonest.

“Do you shop at stores that donate to Democrats or liberal causes?”

No, not if I find out about it.

“Do you eat at establishments or liberal causes?”

No, and I do not and I have not used any Heinz products since lurch.

“Do you employ the services of individuals or companies that donate to Democrats or liberal causes?”

Not if I can help it and in my own business, I have a bulletin board with nothing on it but the truth about obama, the dims and leftist republicans. I do not care if dims do business with me or not. If they are offended... they can go their own way. dims that are open about it get nothing from me.

“Why would any of these be any different than what you claim to be doing?”

If you have to ask then you cannot possibly understand.

“You can say that you won’t vote for Romney because he isn’t ideologically pure (as idiotic as that may be).”

Again, you are misunderstanding... we do not seek purity... but we do demand someone that has actually got a record in their past of supporting some of our Conservative ideology... not someone that has changed every tenant of the past belief system to attain the nomination of the Republican party.

“If you honestly believe that God is going to punish you for voting for Romney, then you damn well better believe that God is going to punish you for where you eat, shop, or buy your car insurance.”

Blasphemer... you are not GOD and you do not speak for HIM. Do not even try.

“Then again, your boy Obama thanks you.”

He is your boy... by supporting mitt you assuring obama’s win because mitt can't win and never could... he couldn't even beat mccain in the primary... and carter has all but endorsed him... and so has soros.

I avoid them as much as I can. however, what they do with their money is what they do with THEIR money after I purchase something of value.

I give them money, they give me a product of value.

I’ve been known to TAKE money from these companies when I do contract work for them. They pay me for something of value I give to them.

I give Mitt my vote, I get nothing of value in return.

You know what’s sad? Let’s draw a hypothetical situation when Virgil Goode and Mitt Romney had equal chances of beating Barack Obama.

I’d bet that the large majority of the FReepers on here whining about third parties would *still* vote for Romney, simply because of the fact that they *prefer* a RINO to a real conservative.

this is all utter BS.

The constution party is a vote splitter funded by the rats for useful idiots.

He has no support in dc and would be politically doa and irrelevant because he has NOTHING in congress in terms of support.

This is a delusion candidate and the only message sent is obama again.

Anybody who claims to be voting on principle or “to save their soul” strikes me as a complete and total hypocrite.

And anybody who says that they are voting for Romney strikes me as a complete and total moron.

I'm voting for Goode in November. The hell with Romney and the GOP-E he rode in on!

Yep, Santa, the Easter Bunny, drinking beer at 10 a.m. My life is full of one flip-flop after the other. I could never vote for someone as unprincipled as myself!

Which is why I'm voting for Alan Keyes! Wining! He'll bring the black vote too! I read it here on this forum!

The constution party is a vote splitter funded by the rats for useful idiots.

Yep, and why do you suppose that is..? Could it be because the Gimpy Outdated Party has ONCE AGAIN failed to field a conservative candidate? Does nominating someone the likes of Romney to go forward vs. Obama indicate the GOP is going all-in with the task of recapturing the White House?

That remarkably stupid move of nominating Romney doesn't exactly speak to seriousness, IMO. Romney is not going to win in November.

Yet.. those of us who choose to stay conservative and actually cast votes for CONSERVATIVE candidates for President are somehow "delusional." Got it.

I'm sorry to hear you won't be joining us on the Alan Keyes for President (write-in) 2012 bandwagon, but I do understand. Your position is completely reasonable and I respect it.

I’m thinking about Keyes, but at the same time I’m really liking what I hear from David Manning lately. Whom to choose? This write-in primary is going to be a tough one. I wish they’d hold a third party/write-in debate.
