Virgil Goode Polling 5% in Virginia
Independent Political Report ^ | May 1st, 2012

Posted on 05/02/2012 9:47:32 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Virgil Goode is a former Congressman from Virginia as well as the current Presidential nominee of the Constitution Party. He has lived in Virginia all his life and the family name “Goode” means something in the area due to he and his father’s political careers. Now Public Policy Polling has found that Goode scores 5% against Obama and Romney in Virginia, even when an “Other” option is included.

Another interesting angle in Virginia is the candidacy of former Congressman Virgil Goode as the Constitution Party candidate for President. We find him polling at 5% in a three way contest with Obama’s lead over Romney expanding to 12 points at 50-38. It seems unlikely Goode would ultimately get 5% but anything he gets could help flip the state to Obama given how small Romney’s margin for error there is. Goode gets 10% from those describing themselves as ‘very conservative,’ suggesting that Romney does still have some work to do with the far right.
As always, the disclaimer here is that polling numbers for third parties and independents tend to decline as we approach election day.

Okay, that’s it. If that’s the level of conversation on FR now, I’m out.

Goode voted for Dick Gephardt over Newt Gingrich for Speaker of the House twice. Can this guy really be trusted?

Reagan was a Democrat at one time, can he really be trusted?

Just checking. Sarcasm isn’t always easy to spot in print.

Here is where you start your education concerning Virgil Goode's record.

Sounds like an excellent idea. If you can elect only a fraction of those it would still be a good start.

Unfortunately it should have started in 2008 or earlier, but better late than never.

Pures don’t ‘converse’ - that would imply they actually cared what someone else had to say. Instead they make Onanistic little statements to reinforce how cool they are.

Moomad's whining was over the level of discourse - this after his own shrill onanistic little statement that FR would be "outlawed" if Mitt didn't win. And then there's your little gem:

Pures don’t ‘converse’ - that would imply they actually cared what someone else had to say. Instead they make Onanistic little statements to reinforce how cool they are.

Looks like you spilled some on yours or Moonmad's on your Berkenstocks.

Virginia is not a ‘swing state’ this time. McDonnell and the Mittbots made sure of that ~

I know you got screwed in VA with only Romney and Ron Paul on the presidential primary ballot, and I’m sure you have good reasons to want to create a new party in VA (although I would posit that it would be easier to retake the GOP than to run a third-party candidate and have the Dems win by default; and isn’t Bob McDonnell like 100 times more conservative than Doug Wilder?). That being said, Virgil Goode is running for president, not for state senator or Lt. Governor, and if he takes 3% of the vote in VA it could throw the state (and likely the presidency) to Obama. If anything, Goode’s role as a spoiler would doom any chance your nascent conservative movement would have of succeeding.

Nope, not talking about a NEW PARTY, but a really serious reform of the Virginia Republican party ~ we have a whole big bunch of relatively Conservative African Americans around here who dote on Doug Wilder and actually seek out his political counsel.

There's no reason they have to be tied down over there with the union thugs and nonprofit industry in Alexandria.

Part of the reform will be to look at the record to seek out and REMOVE current establishment and Mittbot types from positions of party leadership, or membership in the state legislature.

If that crowd want to participate in politics they should go where they are welcome.

BTW, McDonnell is a faux conservative ~ and Wilder is hardly a Leftwingtard ~ his "rainy day fund" approach (save some in good times to pay for the bad times to come) is incredibly conservative.

The Democrat big dogs were terribly unhappy with him during his term as Governor.

The Republicans can do something about it. They can dump the lying Socialist from getting nominated.

If I recall correctly, things didn't turn out so great for Curly Bill.

It is important to get behind Romney so that we get more Souters on the Supreme Court and less Kagans.

No, we’ll get one Thomas and maybe one Souter (but perhaps an Alito) instead of one Ginsburg and one Breyer. That’s the difference between overturning Roe and cementing it for decades to come.
