May 4, 2012 Reward offered in death of Lightning Medicine Cloud
By BRAD KELLAR CNHI
GREENVILLE A grieving Arby Little Soldier announced Friday a $5,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the person or persons responsible for the deaths of Lightning Medicine Cloud, a white buffalo sacred to Native Americans, and his mother.
"The people have taken the heart of a spiritual situation here," Little Soldier said.
During a press conference at the Lakota Ranch near Greenville, investigators looking into the deaths declined to release any details as to how the buffaloes died, other than to confirm that a criminal probe was underway, involving the Hunt County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers and the federal Department of Indian Affairs.
Sheriff Randy Meeks did not comment on reports aired by a Dallas television station concerning the case.
"We are still early into the investigation and I'm not at liberty to say," Meeks said, adding a veterinarian was called to the ranch upon the discovery of the bodies. "We have not received that report yet."
Next week's Native American Powwow, which had been scheduled at the ranch to celebrate Lightning Medicine Cloud's first birthday, will still be presented.
"We are now going to celebrate his memorial," Little Soldier said.
What makes you think that those Indians that see the white buffalo as sacred are not Christians. I’m Indian, Christian, and still respect the tribes traditional ways.

What we’re wigged out about is why is DHS involved?
Yes, it has a nice soft look like a photo made with a filter on the lens. That is a little more like a watercolor than the old school use of tempera.
Those Ameraucana eggs are awesome!
“Well I fail to see why we need the Feds involved in this.”
Yes, and you’ve said that 20X in as many posts. I merely offered one thought, there’s no need to go on so defensively about it. I frankly don’t CARE why they called in the feds and will just leave this thread.
Yes, stealing your materials counts as do-it-from-scratch too! lol
Extra points if you employ some crimson from your rock salt wounds as well.
Well I DO CARE and thats the wider point of my post.
WTF does DHS have to do with this?

If there’s a reason for Feds why DHS and not FBI? That’s weird. Then again I wonder why DHS exists at all. When I read upthread that they put their name on some traffic citation I start to get agitated.
I'm too old to get shot again. And we're both too slow.

I agree with you.
I went to see the little guy last July. Although it was after the naming ceremony, there were still large crowds coming to see him. I happened to be there by myself and had a chance to speak a long time with the owner. It was not commercialized in the least...no entrance fee, only a donation if one chose to do so.
They have a pretty large herd that would surround the babies in a very protective manner. I guess as the young ones got older that protection wasn’t as strong.
I have been sick about this all day. Not only the inhumane aspects of the killing of an innocent animal...but the disrespect to the culture.
I liked GWB but DHS is a huge mistake and the fact that they are involved in this is out of bounds.
Homeland security? Really?
Lines are being blurred on legal fronts.
Shots are being blamed... that would be hard to miss.
Terrorist buffalo shooting?
When I saw the video of DHS agents cruising by TEA Party rallies in Albuquerque I instantly lost any faith that they had any useful purpose. Give them sticks with nails on them and have them go police some parks.

Mad scientists hoping to clone the critter?
Besides, I'm sure there is a fixative that would take care of that. ;^)
