Mitt Romney Will Do Just Fine, Thank-You [insulting the intelligence of the base is madness]
The American Thinker ^ | May 7, 2012 | J.R. Dunn, is consulting editor of American Thinker

The upcoming election will be one of the simplest of our lifetimes. It is defined by one axiom: Obama must be defeated.

[HUGE SNIP of must-read article]

So let us put away all thoughts of strife and disagreement. All wishful thinking and illusions. The real world beckons. There is no place for the ideal in this conflict. We will have other and better opportunities. For good or ill, Romney is the man of the hour. The only thing of importance is to defeat Obama and everything he stands for. The polls, the shifting attitudes of the country as a whole, and the stark fear arising among the progressives suggest that Romney can do the job. Lets us gird our loins and go amongst them.

Venturer: “Judging from what I read here, most Republicans in Free Republic will vote for Obama.”

I thought FReepers were on a truce. I won’t question your conservative principles when you vote for Mitt Romney, a Democrat in all but party affiliation, and you shouldn’t accuse me of being an Obama supporter if I refuse to vote for Romney.

Seriously. It doesn’t matter how much you try to pull Romney over the finish line. He either has it or not, just like McCain. All the cheer leading and cajoling in the world won’t fix Mitt, and insulting fellow conservatives (as Obama supporters) isn’t going to help your cause.

(as far as I can tell, nobody hates Romney for anything).

Mr. Dunne hasn't looked very far. I despise the GOP elite, Mr. Romney is a member of that elite, so...

I don’t mean to insult anyone, I am just stating the fact.

We have a terrible choice to make. Obama or Romney.

I didn’t make that choice, I voted for Newt in the primary, another choice that wasn’t wholly pleasant.

The choice of letting Obama in for another 4 years is one I cannot face without a challenge.

Is it insulting to say that if we do not elect Romney,Obama will go in and have 4 more years to destroy our country?

If it is I am sorry, but that’s the fact.

All this dreaming about a dark horse appearing out of the blue, is just that. Dreaming.

It’s the frying pan or the fire for us. I choose the pan.I hope enough others do to get rid of the obscenity in the White House now.

HOW does proclaiming Mitt Romney a CONSERVATIVE make sense - on this board or in any other circumstance?

Amen. I just don’t think Romney will be that great if elected. So he’s going to have a hard time selling himself to the base.

Barack Hussein Obama is not one man in that he has hired/appointed dozens if not hundreds of the like minded, all of whom are self identified socialists/communists intent on the destruction of this nation.

No, no matter what you or I do... mitt is going to lose... the gop/e knows this and that is why they have manufactured mitt this win. mitt could not beat insane mccain... obama will tear him to shreds. There are many reasons as to why... all of them having to do with WHO romney is and WHAT romney has done.

A fact indeed. Obama must go.

The base needs to co-opt the weak-minded, jelly-spined, over-the-top opinion of their elevated position GOP-e. I can't wait to get in their face and WE CAN do that when Obama is out the door.

I mean IN THEIR FACES! Allow no excuses about "Obama must go" and "we don't have a majority on the Hill to fix this mess" bs. I mean stamp our feet, lock our pocketbooks and run real conservatives the second they begin to "reach across the aisle."

I just tell the truth and the left calls it bullying... and bullying... like globull warming... is an argument of the left. Don't use their arguments and language... it just furthers their power.

We(tea party) defeated Obama in 2010. What did the Republicans do? They stabbed in the back the very movement that put them in power to stop Obama. I don’t see much to celebrate if Romney wins.
**********************************************************

Of course the GOP-E and rinos are angry, their leap, hand in hand with the Dem-E and dinos, into that socialist utopia and a picnic where they would pick all the wealth off this nations bones, was over a year ago. Then the Tea Party came along and peed in their potato salad.

Now the plan is to run Romney against Obama and it makes no difference which one wins as the leap into our oh so glorious utopia is scheduled for next year.

Fair enough, but I think it’s also a fact that nothing you or I say is going to put Mitt Romney across the finish line if he, himself, can’t inspire enough people to vote for him.

It’s not really my job to fix a terrible candidate. He is what he is, a squishy moderate and terrible campaigner. I tried to rally the base for McCain. Truth be told, McCain lost because he was a terrible candidate. It wasn’t our fault.

That said, whose fault is it if Romney fails? Is it our fault for not cheer leading enough and marching to the polls like loyal party drones or the fault of those who nominated someone even worse than McCain?

Mitt Romney should count himself extremely lucky that the conservative vote was split and he’s up against a Marxist class warrior in November. Under any other circumstances, Mitt Romney would have been laughed out of this election. I’m just calling the facts as a I see ‘em...

Per JR’s truce I won’t bash Romney nor his supporters, but I will say that with such low support for either the imposter or Mitt, a 3rd party candidate has a greater chance to finally break the 2 party false dichotomy once and for all.

The Democrat party, controlled by a small faction, is in a full out sprint for the cliff where they can leap into that factions oh so glorious utopia. The media, screaming and wetting their panties in excitement, cheering them on. The GOP-E and rinos, with Romney in the lead, are five yards back and mad as hell that they wont be able to jump at the same time as their friends.

Both parties are well to the left of radical leftists when they belong to the right of center. The Democrats slightly right of center and the Republicans further to the right.
