Obama may clarify position on same-sex marriage in interview today
Washington Post ^ | 8/9/2012 | Peter Wallsten

The president has been under intense pressure for his self-described “evolving” position on the issue since Sunday, when NBC aired an interview in which Vice President Biden said he was “absolutely comfortable” with gay marriage.

Biden’s comments put Obama on the spot, exposing the president’s position to ridicule among gay-rights activists who see it as a wink-and-nod stance to avoid alienating conservative swing voters as well as African-Americans and Latinos key to Obama’s reelection.

The president’s challenge was evident in Tuesday’s vote in North Carolina, one of the campaign’s targeted states, where voters overwhelmingly backed a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex unions.

Obama’s campaign released a statement describing the North Carolina results as “disappointing.”

Aides to the president would not say what Obama might tell Roberts today about the issue of marriage.

An Obama policy shift today would follow days of frantic phone calls and conversations between campaign officials and leading activists and donors in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Thanks

Obama announces his support for same-sex marriage

I heard reports that high level lib donors were holding back over this, and the results last night increased the pressure to do this now. By waiting a single day he cannot be accused of personally losing this NC vote, but Republicans could stroke libs and tell them he joined to support them too late and let this state go.

At this point he was fooling no one.

Talk about hyper-evolution. If I didn’t know better I would think he was playing the stupid voters and got caught :)

A black Democrat co-worker of mine told me this will hurt him with blacks in the South, well at least black voter turnout there.

Voter enthusiasm affects elections, they wont vote for Romney but many who voted in 2008 will stay home.

This is the wedge issue Republicans need to take advantage of.
Republican funded PACs need to run commercials in black and Hispanic (in Spanish) areas saying how bad Obama has been to them economically with background actors who look like upscale white LGBTers that are very happy looking as if they just got married; with a moderator pointing out that Obama spent his time on advancing social issues instead of helping them.

This will keep even more of them home on election day.

Jeeze, this one is easy.

I forgot to add the most important part. 'Issue' ads are tax exempt for donors unlike 'political' ads.

So after creaming Obama on homo rights and the economy the last line-of the commercial must be :”Call President Obama and tell him to have HIS Attorney General defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in court as the constitution requires him to do.” which makes it an 'issue' ad.

Not kidding, that is how Rove is doing it. They were complaining about it on the Dem channel
