Obama could gain critical votes over gay marriage issue

Analysis

WASHINGTON -- Public opinion about gay marriage has changed so rapidly that President Obama's historic embrace of it may pose as many political risks to Republicans as to the president and his fellow Democrats.

The president's dramatic shift on the issue -- a watershed moment in U.S. politics, even if many people felt it was inevitable -- is the latest sign that Democratic hopes increasingly rest on younger, college-educated and largely urban voters, whose lifestyles are shaped by social mobility more than religious and community traditions. Many young adults find the notion of discriminating against gays and lesbians as incomprehensible as their parents' and grandparents' accounts of living through racial segregation.

Yet same-sex marriage remains provocative in some places, including once-reliably Republican states such as North Carolina, where Obama won a narrow but stunning victory in 2008. Only hours before his Wednesday announcement on ABC News, North Carolina voters turned out in huge numbers to approve a constitutional ban on gay marriage.

Even though this was published in our local fishwrap, I'm excerpting it because it originated with the AP.

Is the AP delusional? Is Bama going to increase his share of the NAMBLA vote from 97.6% to 99.8%? Or his share of the mush-headed under 30 vote from 69% to 70%?

I know how we feel as Conservatives, but with the populace as a whole, this issue is going to be a wash. For most people it isn’t a major issue. America is pretty much split on it. And while I feel strongly in my views, well ... they haven’t yet asked me to appoint the POTUS.

It is very likely he will lose votes over this. Rush said today that female blacks are the strongest opponents of gay marriage demographically.

It's not that they would vote for a Republican its that they may not vote at all because of this. He has a 98% block that may now "under-produce"..

So, who will be voting for him now that wouldn’t have voted for him before?

Blacks in North Carolina voted two to one AGAINST marriage between sodomites. The AP is delusional.

He has made his election a national referendum on this issue

And we seee how that is going .... in the states where voters are actually allowed to vote and not having this crammed down their throats (as done in Maryland)

PS: It’s still about the economy, out of control spending, the war on terror, and about two men and one woman (Obama Reid and Pelosi) blatantly disregarding the Constitution when it does not suit their agenda

I have to think this would be the last straw for any Catholics who may have still been on the fence about him. Between funding abortion, mandating free birth control for all health insurance coverage, and now this.... I cannot see how they could pull the lever for 0bama, no matter how liberal they may be.

He gained some money from the 20% of his bundlers that are homosexuals,

but as far as votes? Probably not.

This issue may be the green light issue for the Christian electorate. Christians have a high percentages of unregistered voters and voters who do not vote. This issue, if any, will drive them to the polls.

Yep, 31 states is just ‘some places’.

This is not an issue that will motivate you to want to vote FOR Obama unless you are gay and want to get married.

People under 30 I have found are generally agnostic on the issue. They have no problem with the concept, but are not going to get out and vote on the issue of gay marriage.

Among all other voter groups I think this is a loser.

You are so right.

These commies want to ban burgers, beer, chips, eggs, whiskey and milk but they’re hell bent on faggotry from cradle to grave.

Exactly, because otherwise the pro-homosexual "marriage" types would vote for.... whom?

” America is pretty much split on it.”

A 65-35 split with Ojackass on the wrong end of that.

The Queers are only 2% of the population and the morons that support their filthy agenda are about 1/3.

Whenever you see “hypocrisy” or “inconsistency” on the left, you’re “standing too close”.

Take a step back and look at the agenda.
Control.
Removing the sovereignty (and even the existance) of the nuclear family, and replacing it with a central big brother authority.

Obama named his “model citizen” “Julia” for a good reason.
She’s the main female character in “1984”.
