New Republic Makes Suggestions for Newsweek Obama Gay Marriage Cover
NewsBusters ^ | May 12, 2012 | P.J. Gladnick

The world awaits a momentous decision in a few days. According to the New Republic staff, Newsweek editor Tina Brown must decide what Newsweek cover to use to illustrate President Obama's announced support  for gay marriage. To aid Ms Brown in making her choice, the New Republic staffers provided a gallery of illustrations for the Newsweek cover including the Obama rainbow umbrella man at the top of this story.

You can see several of the New Republic suggested illustrations below the fold. I must give them credit for extreme creativity although I am slightly disappointed that they didn't suggest a Tinker Bell Obama with transparent wings hovering above us all while tinkling stimulus pixie dust over the land.

TOPICS: Political Humor/Cartoons

My money is on Newsweek picking this illustration.

God, I couldn’t believe that Time cover of the mom breast feeding her son.

So much absurdity in our culture. Does everybody have a constitutional right to anything, to expose themselves in some way, and claim they have a right to do anything?

Does Time magazine have to bend over backwards to prove how liberal they are, by publishing such a picture? What’s the point of a shocking picture like that in the first place? To provoke controversy, so they can then say how intolerant anybody who protests is???? This kind of crap from the liberal playbook is getting old.

It will also come with an in-depth hit piece on Mittens on the same issue. Well coordinated of course.

LOL, these are hysterical.

What got into them over at TNR? They are usually not this snarky.

Tina Brown, the big O and gays, all in the snark machine.

Very amusing.

I think I like the Tinky-winky one best. (Tinky winky? That’s the little purple guy’s name, yes?)

How about a remake of the child sucking on the mom’s breast.

Dick Obama, with his smirking smile on, could be the mom and some voter would be doing appropriate sucking.

Others would be standing in line for their turn.

Yeah, that's pretty much it I reckon.
