Got the pineapple!

I love the stuff.

Have also olive oil, peanut oil, corn syrup, molasses and honey!

I think canned fruits, jellies and jams will lift spirits during hard times. Surely you agreee?

The main problem I would have here is heat during the Summer. I have plenty of water around me

Take a swim.

” I agree blam. If you don’t like the show, turn off the channel. “

There are a half-dozen or so of these ‘children’ (chronoligical age irrelevant) who apparently have no life beyond haunting ‘prepper’ threads and wasting time, bandwidth, and patience spewing their garbage...

I guess it makes ‘em feel ‘big’ somehow....

I think Kartographer has managed to purge most of them from his ‘prepper’ ping list, but they manage to search us out anyway...

I agree with you about reorganizing, repurposing, making do and people helping people, we are Americans and we know how to survive and will do fine but it won’t hurt that there are people out there who won’t need help.

I can't disagree with any of this. Being prepared is good when it's about being responsible for yourself and as part of being responsible for your community. It's bad when it's about hoping for doom and humiliation for everyone else.

Okay, the 9mm mag is pretty easy to find. If you’re in a state where they have gun shows, suggest you “google” the gun show dates/times/places near you. For example: “Florida gun and knife show”...if you life in Florida. You’ll find that many states have two or three different named shows that move around the state from weekend to weekend. You won’t have any trouble finding (or filling) mags at a show.

There are a lot of “prepper lists” available that you can find by “googling” for them. I’d suggest you start.

Mmmmm...I do agree! In fact, I will be jonesing for coffee and chocolate if the SHTF. As for your list, just be sure to keep your oils as cool as possible -- in a dark basement or wherever. They can turn rancid even before you smell it, and then they destroy vitamin E in your body.

Canned fruits, jellies and jams will lift the spirits. In more ways than one. Sugar gives that little blood-sugar kick that can help when things are harsh.

Of course, spirits can also lift the spirits, if you imbibe and know how to produce it. ;)

"I’ve never done any food prepping, so could someone tell me if this is a decent product at a decent price? Thanks."

Kartographer or ChocChipCookie would probably have the best advice. I pinged them to this thread.

Oh, are prepper threads like religious threads where no criticism is allowed?

My opinion is, don’t buy it unless you are willing to eat it up slowly over the next couple of years.

In other words, I think it’s wiser to buy foods that you’d eat anyway. Cans of corn, cans of pineapple, cans of tuna, for example, all get eaten up pretty quickly here. Same with rice and flour and canned milk.

So I’d stock up on those and similar items. Then, eat a bit of it each week, and replenish from behind.

Otherwise, you are out $4,000 for that 9 month kit that contains a bunch of food no one in your family wants to eat unless a major disaster occurs. That, it seems to me, is a huge waste of money.

I've been thinking of using canna leaves for tp in an emergency. Check this out:

The canna rhizome is rich in starch, and it has many uses in agriculture. All of the plant has commercial value, rhizomes for starch (consumption by humans and livestock), stems and foliage for animal fodder, young shoots as a vegetable and young seeds as an addition to tortillas. The seeds are used as beads in jewelry.[12] The seeds are used as the mobile elements of the kayamb, a musical instrument from Réunion, as well as the hosho, a gourd rattle from Zimbabwe, where the seeds are known as "hota" seeds. In more remote regions of India, cannas are fermented to produce alcohol.[13] The plant yields a fibre—from the stem—it is used as a jute substitute.[14] A fibre obtained from the leaves is used for making paper. The leaves are harvested in late summer after the plant has flowered, they are scraped to remove the outer skin and are then soaked in water for 2 hours prior to cooking. The fibres are cooked for 24 hours with lye and then beaten in a blender. They make a light tan brown paper.[14] A purple dye is obtained from the seed.[14] Smoke from the burning leaves is said to be insecticidal.[14] Cannas are used to extract many undesirable pollutants in a wetland environment as they have a high tolerance to contaminants.[15][16] In Thailand, Cannas are a traditional gift for Father's Day. In Vietnam, canna is called dong riềng and its starch is used to make cellophane noodles known as miến dong.

Where has there been any of that on this thread?

If you don't have something constructive to add to the thread, why bother? Go elsewhere.

If you can “pour” it into a sewer, you can pour it into a toilet.

A toilet can be “flushed” with a bucket of water.

Simple answer: There are a lot more NP than you. They will eventually overwhelm any defense you have.

You remind me of a saying that my wonderful grandfather used to favor..."Can't never could do nothing!"

The prepper has TONS of factors that may be on his/her side against the biggest groups. And, a serious prepper never expects a certain outcome - they're just working to bring the risk to an acceptable level.

To the prepper, leaving one's head on the chopping block is just not an acceptable level of risk; and to the religious prepper "God helps them who help themselves".

Organizational prepping (like at a church level) is, I’d think, better than so many loner efforts.

I've often thought that a church is one of the best opportunities for prepping.
