How closely will art imitate life? NBC says its rolling out a new sitcom next season about life in the White House, written by former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett, the BBC reports.
1600 Penn will profile a fictional first family, featuring Bill Pullman as the Commander in Chief and Dharma and Greg star Jenna Elfman as the First Lady, as well as The Book of Mormons Josh Gad as their eldest son and Modern Family director Jason Winer.

Another version of West Wing that we don’t even need to bother to watch. Left wingers will be portrayed as the heroes and good guys and of course you know how the Conservatives will be treated.

I got a feeling this will never see the light of a studio.
A former speech writer for President Barack Obama, Jon Lovett, has received a commission from NBC to develop 13 episodes of a sitcom about family life in the White House. 1600 Penn is the fifth comedy that NBC has picked up for the 2012-2013 season.
In November, after he sold the pilot to NBC, Lovett told The Hollywood Reporter the comedy would not be based on real stories from the White House.
Obviously, my experiences are going to inform what I do, but this family will have absolutely nothing to do with the president, he said.
The idea is that this is a dysfunctional family, and the first family today is so far from that, its ridiculous.

Well, something is ridiculous that’s for sure.
I hope he got paid in advance.
I don’t think the American public is going to look too
kindly at some thing like this, it may seem funny to
liberals but not middle America, not after this
administration is finally exposed to the light
of day.
I believe Pullman played the Prwaident in the movie Independence
Day.
Great idea for a sitcom....."The Big Tent". Disgraced former POTUS is convicted of high crimes, and forced to serve out his sentence in a tent at an over crowded Maricopa county jail in Arizona, forced to eat baloney sandwiches and wear pink underwear.
It stinks already.
It could be like ALF only with a larger, wookie looking alien.
figures...clown circus covered by a clown, tells story of a clown doctor, who ran away from reality to live in his world. All put together and presented to the populace at a government controlled clown network
LOL!
Bring back ALF and PeeWee.
