wo Earths would be needed to sustain human activity by 2030, report finds Report shows animal species fell 30%, wealthy countries do the most damage By Meghan Neal / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Published: Tuesday, May 15, 2012, 9:40 PM Updated: Wednesday, May 16, 2012, 6:49 AM

Planet Earth in a tight spot.

Mankind is draining the earth's resources so quickly the globe would be bled dry before the end of the century at this rate, a new report shows.

Humans are living outside their means, depleting natural resources like forests, air and water 50% faster than the planet can renew, according to the 2012 World Wildlife Fund's "Living Planet Report" released this month.

If the trends aren't reversed, by 2030 we’d need more than two Planet Earths to sustain human activity, according to the study.

“If we just do business as usual…we’re just going to continue moving in this direction. At some point, the earth’s going to just give out. We don’t know when. But that’s a pretty scary thing to think about,” said Colby Loucks, director of conservation science at WWF. “The question is, we don’t know what the tipping point is.”

According to research by the WWF the demand on the planet’s natural resources has doubled over the last 50 years, with most of the burden falling on poorer nations.

Wealthy countries can have up to five times the "ecological footprint" as low-income countries, because consumption is much higher.

One earth for liberals, one for the rest of us. We’ll take the old ‘ruined’ one (easily fixed without them) and they can go ruin the new one.

Gee, where have I heard this before?

My favorite crisis is the water crisis. The water we drink today is the same water that’s been around since forever.

And then there’s the genuine threat of a SHRINKING population in the West.

I miss Julian Simon.

according to the 2012 World Wildlife Fund ...
Ya' know, at one time during its existence, this organization, and so many others like it, probably had normal policies and good reasons to exist.
But all of them have been taken over by liberal whackos whose goal of money & power has totally overridden their original intent.
EVERYTHING liberals touch they ruin.

Yeah, but you see, you can't call for more government control and more taxes if there isn't some cataclysmic crisis. That's what the whole globull warming scam was about, this is just the latest iteration of that Liberal scam to leverage total autocratic control.

Ah yes... the population increases exponentially, while the food supply increases arithmetically. Had to go back to about 1975 for that one! This one hits many of the liberal hot buttons—the world’s rich are selfish and don’t care about the environment, the poor will be hardest hit, and we need to reduce population, through abortion, no doubt. The only thing that they left out was, it’s Bush’s fault!

In 1970 Hal Lindsey said in "The Late, Great Planet Earth" that the world would end in the '80s.

And we're still here.

“The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles … hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages … And we think some plastic bags and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference?
The planet isn’t going anywhere. WE are!”

Agreed. I’ve always thought there was a link between liberal environmentalism and eugenics.

Damn that means everyone could live in Texas and the rest of the planet would be empty.

This is the main reason I despise liberals -

they make me oppose and hate things that I should support and like.

Stewardship of the environment.
Energy conservation.
Alternative energy production.
“Helping” the “poor”.

You say that liberals ruin (twist) everything they touch.
So does their ideological father. They’re just doing his will and building his kingdom on earth.

This is such a load of crap. I heard on Rush one day that if "you moved everyone on the palent to Texas each person would have like a half acre to live on, which means the rest of the planet could be used to raise food."

Yep in fact if you got ALL of the people on the planet together for one of those group aerial pics they wouldn't even cover Rhode Island.

Its always fun to ask some libtard greenie the Question: ?How Many states would be covered if we got all the people on the earth together in the USA for an Aerial group shot?"

They are always astonished at the answer which is Zero.

——Sorry, there is about 688,800,000 1/4 acres in Texas, so we would need to use a couple of more states.——

You could fit more than one person in each house that fits on 1/4 acre. Maybe 5 or 6 people per house?

That would leave the rest of the earth void of human beings.

The real problem in the developed world is population decline.

I've seen credible studies showing that the carrying capacity of the Earth may be 36 Billion or higher.

so we could be crowded here in America, like China, Japan or India. stay in hotels that offer coffin sized rooms.

not for me..

Paul Ehrlich used to say this kind of stuff. I recall attending a lecture that he gave in 1969 in which he said that unless the middle class birth-controlled itself out of existence, the earth was doomed.
