Obama Unveils $3B Private Sector Pledge to Fight Africa Hunger

President Obama today announced a $3 billion private sector pledge to support agriculture and help feed Africa’s starving populations, saying the U.S. has a “moral obligation to lead the fight.”

“When tens of thousands of children die from the agony of starvation, as in Somalia, that sends us a message we still got a lot of work to do. It’s unacceptable. It’s an outrage. It’s an affront to who we are,” the president said at the Symposium on Global Agriculture and Food Security in Washington.

Arguing that food security is a moral, economic, and security imperative, Obama urged the world’s biggest economies to fulfill their promises to aid the cause financially. The president said additional nations and non-governmental organizations need to “step up and play a role” because government cannot solve the problem alone.

The new shared commitment, which Obama outlined today, aims to raise 50 million people out of poverty over the next 10 years.

This is great news. That’s 3 billion less than he can get for his campaign.

And in whose pockets, do you think, that $3B is going to end up?

Famine is always a political strategy to eradicate the opposition. Putting bullets in the brains of a few African dictators would do a lot more to ease hunger, but they are all Friends of Obama so that won't happen.

Fight African hunger, eh?

For all of my cognitive years on this planet, and I now collect Social Security, people in the United States have been fighting African hunger.

From little Noah's arks piggy banks in Sunday School, to CARE packages, to UNICEF, to the Heifer Project, to late night commercials begging me to "adopt" little Mbwebwe from Dumwacky Africa for fifty cents a week or an entire village for two bucks, I have been implored to help starving Africans every fricking year of my entire life!

And now the great Idi Obama is asking folks to pony up 3 Billions bucks to end all that?

It's like throwing a glass of water into the ocean to make it taste less salty.

Gangs and wars ripple through that area. - why are we enabling a crazy destructive mentality?

Wars and Playing Pirate might be fun, but not on our dime. We've got problems here at home... Whatever bribes and kickbacks liberals get from these folks, it just has to stop. We;re broke. Someone else will have to feed them so they can make more pirates and killers.

Headline says “private sector” but in the speech he is clearly calling for government funding.

Liberals lie...

By a weird coincidence, there hadn’t been hunger in Africa until this year, which just happens to be an election year.

Africa’s only major problems are socialism and Islam.

Thanks ColdOne.
