According to rules for the U.S. House of Representatives, Gowdy was held personally responsible for the loss and was asked to reimburse the government. The rule exists to encourage careful stewardship of public property and to dissuade employees from taking office property, said Josh Dix, Gowdy's spokesman

Rep Gowdy should send the bill to Eric Holder.

Gowdy, R-Spartanburg, had a 27-inch Apple computer monitor and two cameras, all public property, stolen from his Capitol Hill office on April 11. As was first reported in the National Journal on Wednesday, break-ins occurred at the offices of two other House members — Reps. Jerry Lewis, R-Calif., and Jon Runyan, R-N.J. —

All Republicans.

Say, didn't Nixon go down for this sort of s**t?

No. We find out that Nixon REALLY went down for being a Republican.

Let’s see how fast the Washington Post will start its investigation.

Based on everything reported in the press....this is a inside job...likely to be a former locksmith for the building. The fact that every single door in the Pentagon is run by scanning security cards to enter, and every door in this Washington DC office is plain old-fashion key-locks....makes this more of a joke. The congressional building should have upgraded a decade ago, and is still unsecure today.

They may be crooks, but at least they have enough taste to steal the good stuff...

There is no possible way that a correctly secured Capitol office could be burgled without inside help, assistance or knowledge.

When Trey became too investigative in Holder’s illicit F&F criminality, Eric ‘Just Us’ Holder knew he would need blackmail data on Gowdy to stop him. BUT, typical for this commie thug administration, they use non-professional thugs to do their dirty work and those fools steal out in the open things which catch their eye. Look for Brennen behind this somewhere ... with Eric the commie Holder pulling his strings.

Am I the only one that wonders if the stealing of goodies is just to try to make these look like routine burglaries but the REAL reason is to look for dirt?

And I’m not talking Dustbuster kind of dirt.

Look, these are congressional offices. No way a plain-vanilla burglar is going to risk it.

With the current demonstrable criminal regime, with an overepresentation of Obama and Holders peeps, they will be chasing "inside jobs" for years!

If they bother to investigate. < /sarc >
